How do you guys convince your spouses to be okay with you getting a handgun?

One gun for her, two for me, one gun for her, two for me, ad infinitum.

How often do you clean pistol brass?

Every time. I am getting old and blind, so at the price of brass these days, I want to see every shiny piece of it wherever my bottom feeder throws it.

    Texas Star

Seems to me I read somewhere most real life defense situation occur in the rule of 3's, less than 3 yards, 3 shots average, and done in 3 seconds. So, should we only shoot at life size targets at 9 feet, with only 3 rounds in the mag? IDPA, IPSC, and USPSA encourage speed and accuracy. Somehow I...

My first 1911, SA Loaded A-1 (pics and a few questions)!

Very nice Springer. 1911's can be a bit finicky about bullet shape and length. However, most newer guns can feed most anything you can buy off the shelf. I do reload, and load my SWC bullets to a shorter OAL as they feed better that way, but do feed well. RN are always slicker'n snot. WWB is how...

    UPS Cometh!

Don't listen to 'em, you will have a great time with the single stage, and if you do reach the point where you want more rounds per hour, you can always pick up a progressive without having to buy all the accessories. :D At least that's what I always told my self when I still had room on my...

    Any Casings to Avoid?

Woodsman, are you sure you weren't at my local range last week. I watched a CCW class shoot at one berm, followed by two guys who shot several pistols, and then came over to let me know I could pick brass over there, except they had picked up all the .45acp. :cuss:

1st reloading session! :) (Some good, some bad ...)

15 cases too many for an inertial puller? oh pshaw. I hammered out 35 last Thursday night, and almost have use of my right hand again. :D That said, I believe you have hinted at one of the most important aspects of setting up your dies. Dummy rounds. Figure a small number of dummys you can use...

Hornady Lock and Load doesn't Lock or Load!

I am very pleased with my LNL-AP. Might one call Shenanigans?

    Coyote rounds?

Many moons ago, a couple of friends and, I called coyotes with a cheapo battery operated cassette deck and a wounded cottontail tape quite successfully. We did well enough for me to use a Ruger single six .22 mag. Now, I seldom call, but have a 22-250 in the pickup in case one presents himself...

    308 For Elk

TR that picture has me drooling. I grew up eating elk, and most were killed with a 250-3000 Savage, yeah small, but placement is everything. .308 oughta be dandy if you can put the bullet where you want it.

What kind of events can/should I compete in?

From one who has the USPSA addiction, if you are not reloading, invest in a good reloader, or stock in an ammunition company. Gun games are the most fun you can have with a holster on. :D

    Texas Star

The local group here bought a Texas Star this winter, and we had our first match using it last Saturday. Yes, some people burned a 10rd mag without clearing the star, but overall everyone got into the spirit and had a great time with it. Sure, you could call it a carnival challenge, but it sure...

Best out of box 1911 under 1K?

I bought the bottom of the line Kimber, the Custom II, and love it. Have about 5k rounds through it now, practice and competition. I did chuck the plastic MSH for an Ed Brown, but nothing had broken there, just wanted the EB MSH and magwell.

Anyone have a gun related tattoo?

I did see, awhile back, a young lady with crossed single actions across her lower back. Ahem, made for an interesting observation, but haven't really considered it for my old wrinkly self.

Warning Signs - No Guns Allowed

C'mon, that was a great song. Only gun free zone signs around here are at the hospital, and I really don't know if I want to flame them. Next hospital is a long ways away in an emergency.

    WHEW! dodged a bullet yesterday

Good ears and good reaction. Also a good reason for setting up a light to shine in the case after a powder drop, (or powder cop die), and physically look into each case for powder levels. I caught a double throw last weekend by doing that. Still dunno how I managed to throw a double charge in an...
