How long can you store powder?

    Here's an informative article.

    H-110 description

Weird, I didn't know they pulled that crap... probably because I have adblock. Sorry about that.

    H-110 description

Thanks, ArchAngelCD. Looks fine then... from eyeballing it I would have sworn that it was a very flat flake, but I just took a photo with a macro lens and it's clearly a flattened ball. Here's the picture (a bit of powder on the bottom of an inverted dixie cup). Full size photo is here.

    H-110 description

Hodgdon describes H-110 as a spherical powder, but I have a canister and it looks more like flakes to me. :uhoh: Is this right?

Powder pistol powder left in powder measure to long

I've kept some W-231 in my Hornady powder measure for many months now... no problem at all aside from a slight discoloration to the clear plastic.

Need help planning a load for Ruger 45 Colt

What velocity should I look for? Clearly less than the ~1300 fps quoted by Hornady (for a 10" test barrel) and Linebaugh (for lead bullets in a 7" test barrel). My blackhawk has a 5.5" barrel. Figure about 1150 or 1200 fps?

Taurus 24/7 Pro Semi Auto 9mm

I have a 24/7 Pro 9mm. It's one of the most comfortable handguns I've ever shot, and with well over 1000 rounds fired it has been reliable. However... I did have a problem. After about 1000 rounds, it started to double. Sent it back to Taurus and they replaced the fire control parts...

H-110 vs Lil' Gun for 357 Mag

You will need magnum primers. As to the Lil' gun vs. H-110 issue, I'm having the same debate right now (loading hot .45 Colt loads for a Bisley Blackhawk). I have no idea as to the veracity of the reports of forcing cone damage from Lil' Gun, but I'm going to play it safe and use H-110 anyway.

Need help planning a load for Ruger 45 Colt

Yes, but I also read this: So on one hand, he says you should adjust the H110/W296 charge level with cast bullets so long as you keep the velocity within limits. On the other hand, with jacketed bullets you're supposed to use his charge levels and ignore the velocity. :scrutiny: My opinion...

Need help planning a load for Ruger 45 Colt

squarles67, thanks. What do you mean by "wild readings?" Do you have high standard deviations even at 21g? The reason you aren't supposed to download H-110 / W-296 is because it requires high pressure for ignition. You can get huge variations in velocity (or even squibs) if the charge is too...

Need help planning a load for Ruger 45 Colt

I'm having serious load-data confusion here. I want to load a few heavy but safe Ruger-only 45 colt loads for my stainless Bisley Blackhawk. The bullets will be 300 gr. XTPs in new Starline cases, H-110 powder. Hornady gives a starting load of 17.9 gr., max 21.7 gr. H-110. I note that Hodgdon...

For indoor practice, I'd be worried about toxic primer residue.

What Dies Work (in Hornaday ap/Dillon 550-B)?

My Lee dies are of recent manufacture. I'd think yours would work, but I don't really know.

What Dies Work (in Hornaday ap/Dillon 550-B)?

I use Lee dies in a Hornady LnL AP, they work fine except the FCD in the 5th station hits the ejection wire.

    Rifle for my girlfriend

I've gone through this... my wife is just about exactly that size/weight. She'll shoot a Mosin-Nagant M39 or M1A, she handles recoil just fine, the problem is that most rifles are simply too long for her to hold comfortably, and anything in the 7-9 lb. range is too heavy. After trying a few...

Who on here POCKET carries a 9mm?

On occasion, I've pocket carried a PM9 in a DeSantis superfly. It fits in a roomy front or back pocket (cargo pants are good) but it prints... not recognizably, but you can definitely tell there's something in the pocket. The top edge of the gun/holster is just a little thicker than I like...

    SCOTUS reviews the Exclusionary Rule

wildbill has it. What's to keep authorities from 'mistakenly' (potentially on purpose) putting innocent names out for warrants? Note the recent case where MD police put dozens of peace activists on a terror watch list. The way to prevent such abuse is to enforce accountability and consequences...
