True Story of Open Carry in Ohio

The ORC does not address open carry. The Ohio Supreme Court has stated in a decision right before CCW was passed, that the Ohio Constitution protects open carry. They did not address open carry in a car, thus you probably shouldn't carry in the car unless you have a CCW. You could...

URGENT: OHIO CCWs 65 Individuals At Risk For Felony CCW Charges

Michael, It might be best to contact the OFCC directly with your offer. The folks affected by this would probably have a better chance of finding out about it from them. I'm an instructor as well, and would be glad to help you with that class if my schedule permits. Tom

    Wolf "Match Target" 22 LR

I shot ISSF bullseye for 3 years. I used mostly Wolf MT in a Walther GSP. I also used it in my Hammerli FP10. Its great for practice ammo, and for match ammo depending on the circumstances. I used it for all matches at 50ft. However, when I shot matches at Ft. Benning and Wolf Creek at...

Kids: Part - I lost count.

Good post. I'm already doing my part. My 2 year old "nephew" is slated to get the Red Ryder BB gun I had as a child. I already went out and bought another one for my brother's child that is due on Christmas. Come hell or high water, I'll have those boys shooting guns, riding 4...

    Ohio Laws

Ohio law doesn't specify a certain size or verbage for signs, but they must be conspicuously placed. Obviously, if you looked and didn't notice, then it wasn't conspicuous enough now was it? Oh yea, and concealed means concealed.

    "I voted by touchscreen"

Just for the record, Diebold's source code is independantly reviewed and audited at compile time. They also print out a record of the vote. The biggest problem with those machines is that plugging the power in, putting in the paper, and turning them on is WAY too complicated for the blue...

Columbus Ohio Passes Assault Weapons Ban

Wow. I'm almost glad I don't live in Columbus anymore. I wonder if I should call my old pistol coach at the university and let him know that OSU is now the proud owner of dozens of "assault weapon" competition pistols?

    Ohio CCW Reform Bill Proposed

Part of the problem is we have people in Ohio that are zealots about ccw and are all about Vermont carry or nothing, hence the push for affirmative defense. Does any other state have this? Not to my knowledge. Why not fix something broke with the law, like the restaurant deal, instead of...

    Model 1 Sales Barrell Question

I built a model 1 kit and was quite pleased with it. Their barrels are made by ER Shaw. Mine shot about an inch at 100 yards with crappy silverbear ammo. You can't ask for much more than that.

    Cmp M-14?

And to make matters even more frustrating, the CMP actually gives out NM M14's with the selectors welded to various clubs to use for team rifles. So much for "once a machine gun, always a machine gun rule."

    Kent State U and a 2nd Amendment club ? Forget it !

This isn't very surprising. I live about 15 minutes from Kent. A couple years back they were trying to purchase a couple M16s for the police department (can't remember if it was campus or city) and people had a HISSY FIT because "the m16 had so much bad history there." This is , of course...

ATF Agents Just Left My House

A buddy of mine had a similar visit from the ATF this morning. He either had a barrel, and or the adapter (he honestly thought it was for cleaning, said it was for attaching a bottle of hoppes). I'm going to have a visit with him tomorrow and lecture him on being stupid.

first time offender gets 55 years

For those of you that think the 55 year sentence is a good thing, go take a few criminal justice or peneology classes at your local college. Then you just might be able to post an intelligent response. Mandatory Mins are generally a bad idea, they cause prison overcrowding and often...

Grant for new College Rifle/Pistol team?

Well, if they've agreed to let you start a Varsity team, then you should get funding from the school athletic dept. Rifle is an NCAA sport, Pistol is not, but the NRA runs the pistol collegiate program and some schools do have varsity teams. I spent 3 years on Ohio State's varsity pistol team...

    Ohio CCW question

I wonder if our state legislators realize that a lot of newer cars no longer have locks on the gloveboxes. My 2000 Grand Cherokee certainly doesn't.

considering trying to qualify for the Olympics. equiptment question.

First, the rules for Rapid Fire just changed. It's all .22LR now, no more .22 short. Second, I'd get a Walther, Pardini or Hammerli gun if you are going to give it a shot. I shot a Walther GSP in college and loved it. My advice is this, start thinking 2012. 2008 might be a...
