Any Opinion On a TOPS Knife?

Really? The DVD was what convinced you to buy knives from LT?

    Which steel do you prefer?

I have purchased all of the Spyderco Mule knives so I can play with the various different steels, and thus far my favorite has been CPM-S35VN. I will say that the latest Aogami Super Blue steel is very nice, but I haven't done any cutting with it (did shave a nice spot on the arm though)...

Which more likely - pump short stroke or semi malfunction?

I've had two short cycles in a row on a particularly fun duck/goose combo hunt, with a gun that I have thousands of rounds through. It was a perfect storm combo of cold weather, tired hunter, new oil (needed more). In essence, operator error.

John Landi had one for sale, it wasn't on his website though. http://www.landiknives.com/

Cyl or Imp/Cyl with Federal Flitecontrol wad?

Briley is supposed to be developing chokes that compliment the Federal Flight Control Wad. Everything I have read says that it constricts .030, which generally relates to IM, and provides tight patterns. It's currently available for the Federal Black Cloud ammo, and in development for Buck.

    Too much safety?

Mortality rate of a GSW is 13%, so 87% of the time you have more time.

US 1918 trench knife made by AU LION

Two were listed on auction sites recently. One sold in the $320s range, and the other didn't receive a bid (initial opening bid request was $599).

    the machete

I generally prefer the Tramontina Cane Machete. I like the hook on the end for pulling brush. I could use it for defense, but like a firearm for protection.

Help me decide: Benchmade vs. RAT

I would personally choose the ESEE version over the Ontario version. The differences are enough for me, but may not be for others. WRT choosing between a fixed or folder, it all depends on what you want. Do you have plenty of folders already? Of those you have, do you find yourself...

Knoxville, Nov. 5,6,7 Spirit of Steel Knife Show

Hmm, on another forum he said he was pushed out of DFW because of the cost (which I guess could be related to low attendance). I think 2008 was a tough year for shows in general, and he canceled the '09 show to spend time with his family. 2010 was supposed to be the big comeback. I went to...

Knoxville, Nov. 5,6,7 Spirit of Steel Knife Show

I'm disappointed that they moved this one to TN, considering Blade is held in Atlanta. Should be a good show, but I can't justify making the trip.

Do Cold Steel Knives live up to the Hype?

From the CS Website: "Like our Tantos, it features the Tanto styled reinforced point. This contrasts sharply with most boot knives on the market today which are notorious for their paper thin points which are easily broken or bent. In contrast, the Kobun's® point is highly resistant to bending...

I'm spooked to buy a shotgun with an 18" barrel

If you pay and it comes short then you don't fill out the 4473. You contact the seller, and let him know you want your money back. GB offers an Inspection Period and Return Policy, and states that if the item is substantially different that they will protect you as well (in this case Sub-18"...

where can you shoot besides gun ranges?

In TX most of the land is private, so it would be doubtful you could drive out into the country and start blasting. Those folks who own the land might not appreciate it.

Really, Really , HURTS! Maverick Mossberg 88

Not sure why it's beating you up so bad, I put 8 boxes of 3 inch steel through mine without an issue (that's also shooting at less then optimal angles). Mine has the long hunting barrel though, so it could have something to do with it. For shiggles I ran some 00 through it (2 3/4) and didn't...

    Record Texas Buck

Not all places have cultivated fields or stands of Oaks. The locations we are talking about are rough land. CWD hasn't been found in TX (To my knowledge), wouldn't it be more prevalent, since we allow feeders?

    Record Texas Buck

Yes, I was intentionally being obtuse. I grow tired of the folks who complain about hunting over a feeder, while happily setting up a blind next to farmer John's corn field (or a cultivated food plot specifically for deer). Folks have been hunting over bait since the beginning of time. Oak...

    Record Texas Buck

So let me make sure I understand, a field of corn contains very little food, but a feeder that puts out 1 lb of corn is concentrated. A 6 foot circle of corn is concentrated, but a 1/2 acre food plot of peas, wheat, and oats specifically planted to attract deer isn't attractive enough to...
