I bought a new Coonan with night sights a couple of months ago and I love it! I do have rather large hands though. The grip is noticeably larger than a standard 1911. Nothing quite like a flame shooting out the barrel of a 1911, and everyone around is wondering what the heck you are shooting:)

The DW holds 8 + 1 also. The bobtail makes a bigger difference in the holster than you think it would. I haven't needed any customer service, but Keith at DW frequents a couple of 1911 forums and is readily available. I own 2 DW's so I'm prejudice, but you can't beat them for the money.

I use a Browning tackle bag and love it. Just remove the plastic boxes and keep guns in rugs. The side pockets are large enough for ammo boxes and the glasses holder is a nice touch too...

Another vote for the UpLula. It works great!

(I guess I should also note it was about 25 deg F, and I was outside, with no gloves....) I think that would be the answer. Only other reason could be a burr(sharp point) on the trigger. There is not much recoil to these guns.

They have a M&P 45 full size, medium, and compact in the 2008 catalog. The compact is 8+1. I have a MP 9 and love it! The S&W website is SLOW:banghead:

Agreed on the Kimber boxes being terrible.:barf: The XD boxes aren't much better.:rolleyes: I was also dissapointed with the Dan Wesson box. The boxes for the SW M&P's are pretty decent.

Isn't the compact with the extended mag the same thing as the service? Are there any other differences?

If cost is a factor then you might consider the cost of operation. It costs almost twice as much to shoot a .45 ACP as it does a 9mm. If you plan on shooting very often, this could come into play. Make sure that you check prices at different local shops and online. There could be a HUGE...

I have the Pro Covert II and love it! The Ultra Carry II LG is on my list to purchase.

I shot an new one out of the box yesterday without cleaning or lubing. Only shot 30 rounds, but no problems and great accuracy. Sorry to hear the bad luck:(
