    ammo for whitetail?

Save yourself alot of money and go with Remington or Winchester factory ammo. The Remington core-lokt or Winchester Super-X is more than enough bullet for a whitetail at half the price of the federal premium. The Federal is excellent, but not needed in your situation.

When purchasing a replacement stock for a Remington 700, is a SPS the same as an ADL?

Newer SPS's have a hinged floorplate...if yours does you need an BDL/CDL style stock.

    Lightening a laminate stock

No worries, it's hard to to judge one's attitude from only a few sentences and I was thought you were mocking me with the belt sander comment. I have a Remington M 700 LSS in 243 win. This is my coyote/feral hog gun and I usually cover alot of ground with it (hike upwards of 6-8 miles a day...

    Lightening a laminate stock

Wow, tough crowd today  I'm not even going to touch the belt sander to a bull barrel. Why is it that folks assume if someone wants to lighten a laminate stock they are automatically an idiot? ruger700 - Thanks for the insight. My plan was to a 1/2 hole in the buttstock per Boyds...

Safe to flute a factory barrel?

How would one "unstress" a bbl? Cryo treatment? I dont plan to cut flutes myself, I would leave that up to a pro...if I did it at all. I ask the question as it stems from a friendly discussion on the merits of fluted varmit bbls. Shilen makes a good point, two bbls of the same weight the...

Safe to flute a factory barrel?

Purely for looks, somewhat to cool the bbl faster. So as long as too much pressure is not put on the barrel, it's generally safe?

Safe to flute a factory barrel?

I read somewhere, possably on this forum, that it is unsafe to flute a factory barrel. The OP seemed to have a pretty logical answer, but I can't find the post again. Anyone know the facts on this? If it's true, I wonder why so many 'smiths offer the service?

Stocky's Remington 700 laminated rifle stock.

They sure are sharp. I emailed them as I was concerned about weight and they are roughly 3 lbs for a rem 700 short action, which is a few ounces less than my stock LSS stock. Has anyone heard any reviews on them? All I know is that they not easy to get ahold of on the phone but answer emails fast.

    New Beretta A-L2 12ga (PICS)

You don't have to change anything when going from heavy to light loads and vice versa, Beretta's are very stout guns. Given the condition of the gun, I bet it hasn't been shoot much. In that case I would shoot a box of magnums through it to break it in. If, after that, the gun does not fire...

    Need help- Beretta Semi-Auto jamming

I have purchased many a semi-auto beretta because people said they would not cycle. Turned out to be the recoil spring every time. Changing the spring is easy, just don't point it near a window:what:. I wouldn't bother with trying the Beretta factory, I have always found them less then...

    Leupold scopes/rings/bases in silver warning

If you plan on putting on a nice Leupold scope in silver on your SS rifle take note. The scope will match your rifle perfectly HOWEVER, their silver rings and bases DO NOT MATCH. The package may say silver, but it's closer to gun metal. The combination looks like sh*t! I called Leupold and...
