The advice is sound and noted. I do not have dies myself for reloading 9mm, so I'm trading these to a friend (who agrees ahead of time to rework them) in exchange for his unused 41 Magnum components.
I "inherited" five hundred rounds of 9mm reloads. Mostly 115gr GDHP over 7 gr of Blue Dot in virgin cases. I spec'ed some from each box and I find 2 boxes have an OAL of 1.013. These boxes have no load data.
Since the handloader is not available to confirm the load, I assume they are also 7...
An old geezer chimes in
You're all wrong...because I'm always right and this is my story and I'm sticking to it! http://www.thehighroad.org/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
I've had some very good single action revolvers, some excellent single action autos, some excellent double action autos and...
I'll reveal my bias first . . .I sold 2 DAKs and bought 2 Glocks
The triggers are quite different. The DAK is more "revolver like" and mechanically operates a hammer and sear system. The Glock is striker fired and uses more spring tension to snap upon release.
I have consciously trained to...
I understand your need. Frankly, as a field carry I use a revolver in .357 Magnum or .41 Magnum . . . BUT . . . in your situation I would secure some of that stout Buffalo Bore stuff or have someone build a hard cast semi-wadcutter that would cycle reliably.
I say hard cast because it could be...
My life is full of cliches, so I will continue the traditions. My old pappy always said:
"Any stranger found here after midnight, will be found here in the morning..."
"Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6..."
"Ya gotta have breath to explain..."
"Never apologize, mister, it's a sign...
I have the Kahr MK9 Elite 98 and recommend it highly. The SIG P239 is a tad larger - good IWB, but I can't make mine work as a pocket pistol even in a jacket.
I mostly carry a Colt Cobra, though.
.357 anything in a light gun is going to be painful
I carry .38Spl non-plus p 158 grains in my Colt Cobra or J Frames. Like AZAndy, I prefer the old school wooden grips and take a VERY high hold. I use the old lemon squeeze trigger pull which gives me a tense grip throughout the hand. If I...
Commercially available, I like the cowboy loads for sure. I can handle the White Box 130's I get at Walmart, too.
In addition, I had the luck to find a good pair of shooting gloves with the gel insert and that helped.
For the wife, we had to do a reality check and step down to the .32 H&R...
Congratulations...it really is a classic.
I've dress mine up with stag grips which give excellent purchase. I run some 110's when I want to enjoy the range session, but generally stoke mine with 158's from Buffalo Bore.
Also, check your frame before and after each session for the infamous...
I don't hike recreation wise; if I did I would carry a lightweight J frame (of which I have several) to be CCW on the trail.
I sell ranch land and often have to scout thousands of acres out on my own. When I do so, I carry a .44 Magnum revolver and keep a .44 Magnum Marlin in the vehicle. I...
I like the concept and own about 600 rounds of 9mm. The old ammo lab discouraged me from carrying it with a comment that the "petals" slide through the wound rather than "cutting" like a Ranger does.
You can definitely do better.
I have bought several at auctions sites and did OK and my best buys have been at gun shows where someone had a table who specialized in these guns and parts.
There is a very active collector community, who will help you with a good shooter or assist in...
