Chinese updating their Type 95 bullpup & Ammo

See guys? Still no better subsitute than a simple, regular DI AR15.

    Blackwater changes name to Xe.....

Don't worry. They made their money, and that is all they needed. See a field full of ripe corn. That's how they see people, as crops to be "picked".

Rant: Why Some Shooters Should Mind Their Own Business At The Range

Seconded with solareclipse. Most of my feelings about the larger calibers revolve around caliber superiority. "this is a .45, you've a nine, guess who'll loose every time" I also find .40S&W to be too tempermental. Seen some people shoot it well. But unlike .45ACP, its recoil is very sharp...

anyone have a boresnake break off in the barrel?

They get the big stuff out, but after I run patches through I'm still getting crud out. Washing it could help, but it didn't do much in my case. Even if the boresnake does break, it would do it at the connection from the pulling cord and the front part of the cleaning cord. In a carbine...

Dumbest thing you've seen at the range?

Usually a sweep or a close call to being a violation, but nothing serious yet. But I did spy someone "transfer" from one bench to the other, with his finger on the trigger, safety off. Fortunately it was pointed downrange. Oh and the transfer of weapons from one person to another...

    Considering a .357 levergun

I would not get a top ejector. Work the lever "normally" and it throws brass in your face. With hot .357Mag loads, it's a bit brisk but nothing that can't be handled. Light .357Mag loads are easy, and .38Spls are cake. Probably about the same as 9mm in a carbine. 44mag is a lot more push...

AR15 front sight: paint, tritium, fiber optic?

Tarvis, if you use the COT hold and your front sight is too wide you won't be able to make out the target at 400m. All you will see is a big sight that will wander over the target. COT hold tends to favor a smaller front sight post so you can index the target correctly. Not easy to explain...

AR15 front sight: paint, tritium, fiber optic?

This sight paint looks too good to be true. http://patchworm.com/spk.html I know I need a tritium or otherwise illuminated front sight for an AR15. Since night vision is 10 times more than cost than I can handle and I won't be using a red dot either (EOTECH or Aimpoint, too expensive), what...

    .22 for appleseed

The most important thing, as was stated earlier, was to show up. As far as the rifle, I would recommend a good used 10/22. The new ones are still recovering from the plastic junk and may not be precisely ideal.

    Any fans of the Sturmgewehr?

The Russians were well learned by the Finns in the Winter War with their KP31 9x19mm subguns taking on divisional strength numbers of men. Carefully placed MGs, tactics and among other things contributed to them holding out well. The subgun was one of their weapons of choice against the Soviets...

    Help: 10/22 Tech Sights Issue

You don't need a gunsmith or a special tool. Support the barrel and gun well. Use a brass punch preferably, and smack the punch (hold it securely !) driving the sight out from LEFT to RIGHT as you sight down the gun, like you're aiming it. Do not drive from right to left. Use PB Blaster if...

    Any fans of the Sturmgewehr?

An assault rifle is a medium barreled, intermediate cartridge chambered, shoulder fired, selective fire automatic firearm. Medium barreled: Shorter than a full length battle rifle barrel, which is usually around 24 inches. The assault rifle barrel can be between 10 to 21 inches in length...

    .223- UMC or PMC?

Damn I have been ripped off... I'm paying 12 bones plus tax out the door at Big 5 for some UMC ammo...when I could be saving and getting M193 :O How about M855? Any good bulk sources on that? If I got an AR it would be 1:7 twist to handle mostly 55gr to 62gr. Not interested in 70gr+ loads, I'd...

    .223- UMC or PMC?

Right... What would be the "best" bulk ammo you can buy? Not sure if I should be stockin' up on UMC green box .223. I can't afford (actually I can, but would rather not buy it) expensive BTHP 70gr match loads -- just need good, inexpensive, bulk ammo...of them all, which tends to be the best...

"Most Shocking Robberies and Holdups 3"

I will agree with HKUSP45's post. I firmly believe the clerk not only did well at handling that Glock 22 .40 cal (I fired .40cal out of a P229R stainless and still found it too snappy and brisk recoiling) but with accuracy and superior tactical thought. Pulling up behind the female clerk to...

    Integrated shooting jacket and BDUs?

Heylo, Wondering is there is such a thing on the market as durable BDUs with integrated elbow "padding", shoulder "pad", and left tricep "padding" (for shooting with a loop sling) and panties with integrated knee "padding"? Or does that have to be all sewn in? I think a reversable BDU...

.22 Bulk Pack - Is accuracy possible?

jon, Nice there... I noticed the golden bullets have the lowest drop at 100yds when sighted at 50 than the other boolits. Cyclone is the worst I believe, it is around 5.6" drop, the G.B. are 1.8" according to the box.
