    Favorite Rifle in Your Collection

1952 Marlin 39a....my dad bought one with his first paycheck and it's the first gun I ever fired. He gave his 39a to my brother. That prompted me to search hard until I found a nice 1952 model for myself. I always described it as 'heavy in all the right places.'

    New thinking about AR-15

I purchased a Rock River Tactical Entry model in 2009 as the 25th anniversary gift from my wife. Call me tacticool or whatever but I love the fact that there are so many after market products available to customize. For the record, I have no bayonet for mine (although I do for my...

Garand to be imported after all?

Definitely not through CMP. CMP only receives rifles through the US Military.

    Shootin' Old School

I believe that's the same gun I saw Larry Potterfield of MidwayUSA do a trigger job on the other night. His had something like a 16lb pull that he reduced down to 11 IIRC.

U.S. Springfield Armory Model of 1903....need info

Do yourself a favor and post on the CMP website under the ask each other section. Watch for a post from Rick the Librarian. Rick knows 03s. I posted some questions about an 03A3 that I purchased. I provided a few details and Rick came back with a long list of specifics for my rifle...

    The Marlin 39 Club

My in-laws place is on the north side of Spring Lake. My wife's grandfather built the place back in the early 70s. We spent some time there this summer but haven't been there too much over the past few years. Here are the pair of J models in my family. The first picture is my dad's rifle...

    The Marlin 39 Club

Ghost, your story sounds like mine....J rifles made in 1952, are awesome rifles. My brother has my dad's J rifle I shot when I was 8. I bought J185** myself. Cumberland, eh? My wife's family have had a place on a lake just outside of Cumberland for about 40 years. Can i prove it ? Yes...

    SP101 recoil with full .357

My other handgun is a .45 and I shoot .30-06 for fun so many I'm not a fair judge. Shooting the stock grips and 158gr .357 mag, I didn't think it was bad at all.

BUYING NEW AR-15 St. Louis Mo

There is a store in Columbia (http://www.blackriflellc.com/) that has some good deals. They usually show up at the KC area gun shows with a large selection of rifles under $800. You might check for a gun show in your area.

    The Marlin 39 Club

Shade00, about a year ago I was in your shoes. My dad had a 1952 39A and that's what I wanted.....passed on a few and was tempted to buy a different year rifle. But, I knew I bought a different year rifle I'd still be wanting a 1952. I stuck to my guns and shopped for about 6 months...

Bought Old 870 at Gun Show

No worries! If the insert is like the ones I've seen, you can stick a small screw driver through the center hole and pry up on it and it will come out. I have two bought in the 70s and my dads is a 50s model and they are the same. On one of mine, the flexible arm also fell out. I...

What chokes do you use for Skeet Trap or Sporting Clays?

I use a 30" Full Choke for trap. My team would handicap in the 19-21 yd range. I found I shot better with the full than the modified.....usually in the lower to upper 40 range out of 50 targets. Our team was named OSIMA.......Oh Shoot I Missed Again

    870 express price increase?

Cabelas has them on sale for $269 for the laminate or synthetic.......at least the Cabelas in my neck of the woods has them for that much.

    The Marlin 39 Club

johnmcl, I with you on the big scope deals. I had a nice gift certificate at Cabelas to buy a new scope for my 39A but didn't want one larger than the rifle. I opted, instead, for a $17 BSA 3x7 from Walmart. I don't need a $100 scope as big as my arm to kill paper targets at 50 yds!

    CMMG Bargain Bin

ARK9mm, the CMMG folks have tables at quite a few gun shows where they offer better deals than on the website and you can handle the rifles. They list a couple shows on the website but I can confirm they don't list all the shows they do. Wouldn't hurt to email them and ask them about shows...
