Yep! I own a .40 cal. It's Big, UGLY and goes bang EVERY time. It was my first pistol purchase. It got me through my CHL class. The guy who owns the range we belong to said he almost bought one as a joke. He shot mine. He said he was very surprised at the accuracy. I am looking for a carbine now.
This is the kit I started with:Lee Classic Turret Kit
It was the best investment. I started slow and very careful and ended up at about 200 .45 ACP per hour. Lee is a great company to work with. They have replaced parts for free that I admitted to screwing up!
Got mine in SS. Had to practice with the PT1911SS while the Kimber Pro CDP II was at the factory getting fixed. PT1911SS has run flawlessly. It has earned the spot in the house where I sit!
I bought mine so I could pass my CHL class and really research my carry gun. But I will tell you this, I will keep my HP 40 long enough to send it in to have the slide replaced!
I am no real shooter. However, I can hit a steel silhouette at 15 yards 9 out of 10 time rapid fire.
I will report how...
Took my wife and son to the range today. The wife shot the 12 guage for the first time today. Awesome lady! A month ago she had never shot a gun at all.
Great family outing!
Happy Easter all.
I have a Lee Classic Turret Press with the Auto Disc Pro and Primer Feeder.
Just my short experience:
First few times 50-100 per hour
After that up to 200 per hour.
Any faster than that and see mistakes happening. Not to mention, it feels like work going too fast.
Just my .02
I also ordered the Lee Classic Turret Kit from Kempf's gun shop. Very easy to deal with and also shipped the same day. Sorry to say my local shop would not get within $80 of them. I upgraded to the Auto Disc Pro and a Safety Scale.
The kit is just what I was looking for. Yes it is addicting and...
I just bought a Lee Classic Turret Press Kit for $149 (included a 4- die set) from
http://www.kempfgunshop.com/kempfgunshop.com/index.html
I called the order in and they shipped it that day! As far as powder and primers and such, you will have to call them.
One of my best buying experiences!
Welcome johnboy9689!
I understand where you are coming from. I bought a Hi-Point .40 cal new for $170. It is heavy, ugly and shoots straight. I heard many mixed reviews. I bought it anyways. I used it to learn semi-autos and some basic safety. I also used it for the proficiency portion of my...
Thanks everyone!
I went to Topgun today and rented the XD-40 and M&P 40. I shot 50 rounds each. They both shot very well. They were both comfortable as well. I think the XD-40 may be what I get. It just felt a little better. Thanks again!
BTW..they did not have the Walther or the CZ to...
Deer Hunter, you could be right! I promise you this, if mine needs repair they will get it back!! LOL
Seriously, It is my first Semi-Auto and I am having a blast! It shoot as well as I can at this point. I had a guy in San Antonio shoot it 2 weeks ago to prove to me the inaccuracy was me...
I bought the .40 Hi-Point about 3 weeks ago. I have over 1,000 round through it. The only jams were with Monarch ammo. Very reliable shooter. I will be keeping it for my car gun. I would get the C-9 if I could find one. Pruett's can't keep one in stock. I have a good friend who is a gunsmith. I...
Just got back into the gun owner crowd. I bought a Hi-Point .40 for the truck and my CHL class. It is what it is. I am waiting for my CHL to arrive. I expect a 2 month wait. Seems to be the norm in Texas. This will give me time to obsess on this next purchase. After the CCW purchase I will take...

Another from Houston
I always liked guns when I was younger (46 now). After I had one stolen, just never bought another until about 3 weeks ago. Never felt the need until lately. I now own a Mossberg 590 and a Hi-Point .40 cal. I can hit the chest area from 15 yards instinctively. I am looking...
