As for the mixed stuff, the bad guys will go into a shop, steal three to five rounds from a box of ammo. Happens all the time locally at the shops that do not store ammo behind the counter.

I may not qualify as an "experienced shooter" but I highly commend you for asking this question. I have both a 22LR rifle (Remington pump) and a JA22 semi-auto. Sure, I love the bigger stuff, but it is refreshing to know I can shot 500 rounds for about $10. Go for it!

More Hi-Points ;) The guys I shot with look for good prices on high end stuff (Sigs, Kimbers, DE, etc) and cheap prices on low end stuff (Raven, Jimenez, Locern, etc)

I agree, 22LR is the up-and-coming thing (again). Prices of 22s are going up, and the stores I frequent are moving 22s rifles/pistols/revolvers from the back room to center stage.
