NMexJim, thanks for the Shotgun link. I'll join and explore.
Just fired 6 rounds that I had "recrimped"...No FTF's or FTE's after the first round, all rounds ejected at 3:00 about 4 feet out in a 1 foot circle. I may need to use a little heavier buffer. This upper still has a little...
Well, maybe I solved it. I took a little risk and ear and eye-protected and gloved and I put the Win-AA shell in the MEC full-crimp position and slowly squeezed. Crimp looks a little deeper, shells are 2.280” or 58mm as MEhavey said and they didn’t go off and they fit in the mag and I presume...
Mehavey, not only the BCA mags but I also purchased IFC mags from Centerfire; same problem. Yes, I also measure the Win-AA at 59mm or 2.325”, while the Fiocchi are 57mm or 2.260”…just enough to make the difference.
Howa; I had the opposite impression from my search; that Fiocchi was one of the worst and Winchester the best…so your impression is encouraging. I have no “load” yet. Waiting on a Ballistics Product manual to see if it has any Fiocchi hull loads; the Lyman has none. I’ll be using Claybuster...
Thank you AJC1. I don't know about comparable short wads but I'll look; from what I'm reading, almost all 410 wads are the same design. And I didn't think about having to shave down the case....that could prove difficult.
Jack Ryan and Goon, I think you both missed the point. Jack Ryan, as...
I've done two stupid things lately. The first was buying a BCA 410 AR upper...which takes some breaking in but I'm nearly there. The second was buying a MEC and beginning to self-teach myself how to reload shotgun (I'm already experienced at pistol and rifle). Anyway, the two issues are...
Took the afternoon off, worked outside in the garden, and then shot the S&W MP15-22 just before coming in. Mine is an early one, before they came out with threaded barrelsand long before the "slim" handguards. I've been thinking of downsizing rifles I don't shoot much and have duplicates in...
You mean to forget that there are good triggers in the world?
It's not the pull...it's the slop and lack of a crisp break. Although my 1911's feel lighter than that but I had never measured, so I just did. My 15 year old Taurus 1911 is 3.5#. My (purchased used) Colt 1991 is 5#.
Rule3 might have replied a little more diplomatically, and not to put words in his mouth, but he may be coming from the same place I am. Which is that I've never needed a vibratory powder dispenser and don't understand why I would ever strap an adult toy to my powder measures.
Now...
At a local gun show today there was a used Ruger American (but in nearly new shape), wanting $350...including original box and a cheek riser. I came around again and it hadn't been snatched up, to my surprise. Should I go back and pick it up tomorrow? I need another 300BP like I need a hole...
Well, let's not wait around on time passing, friends. Got an email this week from the guy who did my concealed carry training....nice guy, 2nd advocate and ham radio enthusiast. After several responded that we were glad he's still around, he confessed that in the intervening 20 years he's...
Yes he could have gone cheaper with Lee dies, but I'd like to find BR4's for $75 again....saw them marked at Cabelas for $165 yesterday (and didn't buy). But you figure another Lb of H4350 and he's a little over $1000 and can load most of those 500 bullets and primers. The first time isn't...
I love it that this forum is both an incredible information source and a personal therapy site at the same time! Nearly always go away feeling better!
Yep....that's what I'm looking forward to in retirement...time to do what I really want to do which is piddle.....
Wait....remembered that I had them PRINTED, not saved on the hard drive. Here's a PDF of the missing original article: sorry, I tried to post as one PDF, but it's "too large"...so here are the individual 8 pages.
