    Bullets for Bowling Pins (45ACP)

Should have mentioned that accuracy at pin distance was quite remarkable. Interesting that group size was not very exciting until velocity got up near 850 fps. Will soon have some fun with the 250 gr bullets from Matt's Bullets. Plan to start with VV N350.

    Bullets for Bowling Pins (45ACP)

Got the 215 gr SWCs from Distinguished Precision Shooting Sports first and, as luck would have it, my powder hopper was full of VV N310 and set right at a good spot to start. These bullets are a pure joy to behold and very, very near the advertised 215 grains. I'll spare y'all the details of the...

    Bullets for Bowling Pins (45ACP)

Thanks, everyone for the great response. I think we'll try that Magnus Bowling Pin Bullet. While the weight's a little lighter than we've been using, the shape looks right. We have tried a variety of the 255 gr. SWCs and just found them a bit edgy as in close to the edge of any sort of safety...

    Bullets for Bowling Pins (45ACP)

I have loaded the last of my stash of 235 gr SWC "Pin Busters" and so far have been stymied in my search for a replacement. Does anyone have a source for .45ACP SWC bullets in the 230 to 240 grain range? Thanks Norm

"Plinker" loads for .32 projectiles in a .30-06?

plinkers about 17.5 gr of 4759 should be pleasant to shoot. You can go up or down from here to tune for accuracy. Seat bullet to depth equal to bullet diameter or a little deeper. Cheers, Norm

    bowling pin revolver>

The .44 Spl loads should work just fine. Minimum for pins would be the old Lyman accuracy load. 240-250 gr. SWC (Keith style is good) pushed by 6.9 of Unique or Universal. A marginally better solution is a 230 gr .38 in a 7 or 8-shot revolver. Cheers, Norm

Redding Titanium Dies and Dillon 550

Looks about right to me. You might not have your size die as far down as it can go. Hard to tell. The size die should squeeze your brass diameter to the point where you'll get good neck tension accounting for varying brass thickness. When you seat the bullet you'll see its outline in the brass...

    GP 100 (6) or S&W 686P (7) for bowling pin shooting

The more the merrier Having the extra round to salvage a run that's started to go south is priceless. My bride has abandoned her 686(7-shot and ported) for a 627 (8-shot). I have been sticking with the 686 so far but I am tuning the trigger on a 627:) A good pin load uses VVN 350 and a 230...

New to reloading: 9mm/124gr Loads for USPSA/IPSC

Loads for gun games I don't think the 147 gr bullets are significantly more costly than 124s. Precisions are $6.00/1000 more, for example. Cheers, Norm

New to reloading: 9mm/124gr Loads for USPSA/IPSC

9mm for gun games A pretty sweet load for these games in 9mm is a 147 gr bullet (your choice of profile) over a small amount of VV N310. My BHP likes 3.2 gr to make PF. YMMV. Suggest starting at 3.0 and working up to desired PF and accuracy. Cheers, Norm

    Light 270 varmint loads?

light load for the .270 Try a 100 gr (or thereabouts) bullet over 25 gr. of IMR 4198. Excellent light target load, small game getter. From my model 70 it crosses line of sight at 25 yds and then again at about 100. Low recoil. If you use cast bullets from about 90 through 130 gr, try 17.5...

    Some primers not seating properly

Some primers don't seat It has been my experience that some primers are just more difficult to seat all the way and this will show up as some (usually small) percentage of high primers. I get more high primers using Winchester primers than Federals. It's likely, IMHO, to be a combination of...
