Dura-Coat -vs- KG Gun Kote ??

I've had good and bad run ins with spray ons. Like stated before application can be tricky, just follow the instructions and I find spraying the weapon clean and not dunking helps make sure to get that oil and residue off. The teflon moly seems to work well and also protect weapons. As far as...

No this is the rear dovetail cut gents...I have sent the slide back to this guy and Im letting him fix it however he sees fit with the agreement that if I so much as feel uncomfortable with it he buys me a brandy new TRP slide from SA for $220. Is a "dutchman" job with silver solder going to be strong enough for this problem?

listen to this one...broken 1911 slide

Hey there, about a two weeks ago Im at the range with about 500 rounds of 230 ball doing drills when I noticed my groups were, well not groups at all and way off the paper. I looked down at the slide and didnt notice anything. Emptied the weapon, looked at it for a second and still nothing. So...

    Wilson Combat Custom Shop?

I have a bit of an ethical/moral dilema...about 5 years ago my father passed on a family hierloom, my great grandfathers Colt 1911 Gov. Model, serial # 16xxx. To my knowledge this firearm went to France in WWI. The pistol is in good condition with obvious signs of surface wear, about 75% of...

    Firearm handling etiquette question

I just point peoples guns at them and pull the trigger. I figure if they hand me a loaded weapon and I shoot them with it they will learn their lesson...I wonder why no one wants to shoot with me anymore? Im kidding by the way...dont get crazy on me.

    CCW Instructor's Action Invalidate Permit?

    got body armor?

I ordered some paraclete level IIIA RAV cut body armor a few years back with a concealment vest and I loved it. I wore it in Iraq for 6 months with a plate carrier and it was the most comfortable, most protective cut Ive ever used. With the concealment vest you can wear it underneath a loose...

    Mercworx...

Hey all, just wondering if anyone out there has a mercworx shiva. I've had a Sniper for a few years now and its a good field knife but I think the smaller, double edged shiva would be a better "fighting" knife...let me know what you think.

    Holster question

Im a huge fan of the Blackhawk CQC? IWB leather holsters. I've had one for my Glock, 1911 and P225. Good quality, always in stock and relatively comfortable.

Assault Rifle? What's the big deal

I love the idea people have of "tactical" and "assault" rifles. I wish all the "bad guys" would shorten their barrels, put as much gadgetry as possible on, and generally just train on 25 M reflexive ranges. That way when the SHTF and they run out of ammo rambo style and all their optics break...

Is Open carry a Threat on you?

Homeboy needs to get to the VA and get some counseling if he's talking about his time in Iraq and shooting people with holstered open carried weapons. Sounds like a real winner...

Was this acceptable in your opinion?

I usually dont like the randoms I run into at the range and shoot on a private hunk of land for the price of mucking a few horse stalls...I like the horse crap better than the dudes like you ran into.

Ballistic protection for interior walls, ideas...

diamondback tactical and similiar companies sell balistic blankets. They work. Or you could look into sheets of kevlar. We used to cut them and fit them to humvees before we had armor kits...pretty expensive, not to mention a health hazard and hell on a circular saw. You have to change blades...

No Reaction to Open Carry at all

JesseL Thanks for the rundown. Ill admit openly that I grew up in the communist commonwealth of Massachusetts where even talking about guns can cause the police to show up...and I really never saw anyone carrying openly. Since I've moved north to arguably the most friendly gun law state in the...

Springfield Milspec 1911 - Send it back?

same problem here! Bought one two years ago and had FTF every 50 or so. Thought a hundred rounds or more would break it in...wrong. Took it to a gun smith and had the ramp polished, ed brown extractor...etc. still have problems. Not sure what to do with it.
