    Ruger PC-9

I own one. Haven't had an opportunity to shoot it yet, but so far it seems like it would be a fun piece. The trigger mechanism, as I understand, is somewhat complex in it's operation and makes smoothing it out difficult. It's a heavy gun for being a pistol caliber carbine but I find it...

    Cleaning with jags

Funny you should mention copper solvent...that's what I've been trying to push down the barrel with the jag and patch. A 30 cal bore brush is snug but fits completely down the barrel, but there may be some serious fouling as you said, rcmodel. Thanks fellas! Hopefully I get some bench time...

    Cleaning with jags

That was my first thought and led me to cut the patch down to approx. 1" x 1". I got a little further down the barrel but it still jams eventually.

    Cleaning with jags

Forgive me for this seemingly newbish question, but this one has me scratching my head. Traditionally, I've cleaned with patches pushed through the "loop style" tip at the end of the rod. I recently purchased a jag tip and loaded with a thin, small patch I find it impossible to get the jag all...

    Scope Finish: Matte or Gloss?

MotorOil makes a good point. Anything that helps keep you hidden from game is a good thing. But generally from an aesthetics point of view, I like the look of a glossy finish scope on glossy finished rifles and matte finish scopes on rifles with matte finishes.

    How dangerous is the smoke?

I don't think the smoke can be any worse than the cleaning fluids! :D Years of exposure to Hoppes No.9 or something similar will probably mess you up worse. :D

    Calverton Shooting Range, Inc. Ny

Hey, it's good to find a fellow Long Islander on here! I heard a story once that a guy brought what he thought was an empty propane tank to Calverton. Took one shot and KaBOOM! I believe they started cracking down on shooting at junk shortly thereafter.

    NO5 Enfield stock

When I restored my No. 4, I used Numrich for the majority of the parts I needed. http://www.e-gunparts.com/

    7.62x51mm vs 30/06

As others have previously mentioned, I've heard the 30-06 hits a bit harder at longer distances. I think with a well placed shot, an elk wouldn't know the difference.

Results of some informal rust testing I did last winter.

Nice test! Looks like I better stock up on CLP or some of that Swiss grease. :D

    Lee-Enfield user thread

Here is my 1943 Maltby built, Fazackerly (1947) FTR'd No.4. I restored it to it's military configuration, as it was sporterized at some point after it's military service. I also added an ATI weaver rail and a cheap Tasco 3x9 as my eyes don't do the iron sights justice.

Put your collective minds to work on this...

Why bother re-inventing the wheel when someone has already done it for you? The R&D dollars China saved by going with an already proven design will most likely be spent on some other needed equipment or used to line the pockets of certain gov't employees. :D

Too long for a C&R to arrive?

Thanks everyone. I'll give them a call to check up on it. adkpete, 10 months! Wow, I guess I won't hold my breath. BATF came to pay you a visit as well? I heard it's possible, but not extremely likely.

Too long for a C&R to arrive?

Hi everyone. Just wanted to get an idea if I've been waiting too long for my C&R license to show up. I mailed the forms to the ATF back on April 7, 2008. About a week later, my credit card was charged the $30 fee as I requested on the form. Tomorrow will be 4 months to the day since mailing...

Going to my first public rifle range this weekend: Tips?

Listen to and follow the orders of the range officers. It's their world, you're just living in it. It's the best way I've found to keep them and those around you happy and safe.

Does anyone else Not own a semi-automatic battle rifle?

No worries here. I buy what I like and don't get caught up the "politics" of it.

The anti EBR, making the 7615 even more PC

Not bad! Although I think the high cap mag (as compared to a standard 760/7600 magazine) still gives off a bit of EBR vibe. Maybe go to a 5 round AR magazine to give a more sedate look.

Anyone using Jig A Loo on their longarms?

Thanks everyone. I'll reserve the Jig A Loo for my squeaky door hinges.
