What about the Taurus Raging Bull, I've been looking around and they seem to be a little less and I like the looks of the gun better. I'm also thinking open sights now since I can make shots at 100 yards with them at the range so I think 50-75 in the field should be realistic for my skills.
I'm thinking about ditching the rifle and taking up handgun hunting. I'm a Deputy Sheriff so most of my range time is spent with handguns so I'm very comfortable with them and their handling. I think I've decided on the Ruger Super Redhawk in .454 Casull with a 8.5" barrel and 4x scope but...
I was browsing pawn shops the other day when I came accross an unusual rifle chambered in .378 weatherby. It looked like a regular bolt action except that the locking lugs for the bolt were at the rear of the receiver rather than at the front. I found this strange and I was wondering what in...
I am a deputy sheriff and I can honestly say that most of the guys in my SO are completely CLUELESS on firearm laws. We are a shall issue state and I've heard guys say that permits are at the discression of the Sheriff!!! Needless to say, don't just go by what some lady says her cop friend...
I live west of Colorado Springs and I was wondering what kind of birds there are near here for hunting (not pheasants). I used to quail and dove hunt in CA but since moving here have not gotten familiar with anything but big game. The bird hunting bug is starting to get me this year so do any...
I go to our range after every training and pickup up all the bullets that get blown out of the ground. Also good right after it rains and washes down a little more of the berm. Can't mine it so gotta pick 'em up one at at time. I don't even have a smelting setup yet and already have over...
Would it be safe to build a 9.3x64 on a turkish mauser action? I'd love to build one and the price of shot out turk mausers is pretty low. Would this be a safe action to use or would you have to use a K98 action?
I started with (and still use) a lee challenger and it's worked fine for my needs. The guy that got me into handloading used a rockchucker and you can never go wrong with RCBS. I like Lee because the price appeals to me on a cops salary but you can will your RCBS equiptment to your...
I don't have a digital camera that works now otherwise I'd post it. It's a dixie gun works according to the instructions. Looks like a OLD newspaper and has rifle on one side and pistol on the other. I might be off on the era of manufature but I know it is the 70's at the earliest. It just...
Just don't index the turret and voila you have a single stage. I have to agree that turning on the radio with a fresh cup of coffee and running a few hundred pieces of .40 through my sizer is suprememly rewarding. My wife doesn't get it but I think it's the best way to take your mind off a...
I have a single stage to use for that. What I was thinking was that by manualy indexing to each station that you'd be able to do batchs of say .243 on it since it normaly indexes too soon for the cases w/ seated bullets to clear the seating die.
I have all Lee dies except a set of RCBS 9mm's that were given to me. I haven't noticed a differance in them so for the money I'll stick w/ Lee. The one advantage I've seen that redding has is the carbide expander and the fact that they have more calibers that they make dies for than anyone...
I'm getting ready to buy a pro1000 for 9mm and .40 loading (I can't even come close to affording a dillon). What I was wondering is if there's any way to disable the auto index and manuel advane the shellplate like on a 550? It's not that important to me but I can't seem to find an answer to...
Thanks for all the help so far. I agree that a dremmel is not something I want to use, since it was my great grandfathers I want to make is really pretty. What tools specificly will I need at minnimum, I know I need some chissles and gouges but what kinds? I have very minnimal experience with...
I have a 24" piece of 2x6 that I bolted the press to and I then c-clamp it to the computer desk in my bedroom. Used to use the kitchen table but my wife didn't like that much so when my grandparents were getting rid of an old computer desk I snatched it up and mounted the 2x6 to that. It works...
I have free reign of our shooting range (I work the Sheriff's Office) so I always have thoulsands of pieces of .40 and .223. Also got lots of .308 and some 9mm. I'm thinking about recycling some of the 223 since I don't shoot it right now unless anyone on here wants to buy some.
I was just given a 40-50 year old blackpowder pistol kit that belonged to my great grandfather. My dad partialy assembled it in the late 80's and got the basic barrel and lock inlaying done but the stock still has to be finish sanded and some more fitting has to be done with the various parts...
