Aside from a kick like a mule there is nothing I've ever heard bad about the Remington 870. The Makarov seems to be thought of pretty well. Except for Magazine availability/cost I have NEVER heard a cross word about my Astra A-80.

This is a really wonderful subject. All the serious discussions.... If the dogs don't keep the bad guys away, or the bad guys trip over said dogs, I still say 12g pump gun with in my case #4 BUCK. I would not feel all that bad holding a 1911 however. Would be rather awful to mess up my walls...
