    Single Action vs. Double Action

All my S&W revolvers are shot in DA only. I don't get better results when I shoot them in SA mode. Worse, mostly. Anyway, "good" day or " can't hit a thing" day, my DA shot groups are more predictable and conistent than my SA ones. And, as mentioned before, "staging" te trigger does not work...

    You're a snubbie fanboy when...

What about when you shoot your 2" S&W 15 just as well (or as badly) as its 4" barreled brother (and both beter than a 6" S&W 14 by the way)?

    Tell me about Star handguns

Of all the handguns I owned and traded/sold my Star BM in 9x19 is the one I regret most. 100% reliable, solid, well built, accurate... probably the best semi-auto in its size class I ever shot. (Far better than Walther PPK imho) Never should have let it go.

    How can this be done?

I must plead guilty to firing a perfectly good .44 Spl reload from my Ruger .45 Colt Blackhawk, once. Apart from "puff-like" report & recoil, and non-existant accuracy (or even general direction of the bullet), nothing unfortunate happened. The .44 Spl case suffered some & didn't get re-used.

    Barrel length and muzzle flip

IMHO Mr Broland is right as usual. I seem to feel a wee bit more "flip" shooting the same loads from a 6" barreled K-14 than from a 2" barreled K-15 (possibly due to the mechanical advantage mentioned above) although perceived recoil is certainly partly compensated by the extra barrel weight...

    Am I Partly to Blame?

You guys don't know how lucky you are. Over here, it is legally prohibited to own/store more than 2 lbs. of powder.

Any room for improvement in revolvers?

Yes, sort of. I was thinking more in the direction of a 6 shot .45 ACP or 9 shot 9mm L-frame sized snub with a short, unfluted cylinder. Actually truthfully I was dreaming about a swing-out cylinder version of a Webley RIC. I confess : no improvement, there, just nostalgia.

Any room for improvement in revolvers?

I don't know if it can be considered an improvement : I love snubs, and the 6 or 8 cartridge clip is an excellent idea. What if such (clip-loaded snub) were built to chamber short auto-pistol rounds (.45 ACP - 9 mm) AND USE ACCORDINGLY SHORT CYLINDERS instead of overly long (.357...

I just saw a movie that made me crack up

Not everything is 100% made-up, though : I seem to remember Elmer Keith had a SA sixgun featuring some kind of "stud" which could be hooked into a metal device mounted on his belt. His gun would be carried completely exposed, muzzle down & could be "swiveled" upward (muzzle forward) and fired...

Pros and cons of a PPK

Pros and cons of a PPK

At some point I positively craved a .380 ACP PPK. For the usual reasons, I guess : aesthetics, mystique, reputation, size/power concerns... So I sold my 9mm STAR BM , laid out a sizeable amount if cash on top and bought one. It never did what i was supposed to : it never "bit" me, it...

Pull Trigger: with finger pad or first joint?

I have found trough experience that with 90% of the handguns I use, be it DA/SA auto, SA auto , SA or DA revolver, I (personally) shoot best with "first joint" trigger finger position. Works for me, at least. Since I know that, I grasp any new-for-me handgun the way Jim Cirillo teaches ...

    Your priceless cheapo

Some time ago (must be at least 20 years), Belgian police forces switched sidearms from .32 ACP pistols to S&W mod. 10 revolvers. (They have moved on to Glocks since then). Anyway, the police commissioner in my home town got stuck with a couple dozen brand-new, unfired FN Herstal-made...

    cowboy 45 special ?

So it's some sort of hybrid, a .45 Colt case shortened to .45 ACP length ? To eacht his/her own, of course, but since this was developed for single-action revolvers, wouldn't it be simpler all around to go for a .45ACP-chambered cylinder like in the Ruger "Convertibles" and use regular ACP...
