Any Advantage to Using Small Primer 45 Auto?

I ask because I've hundreds of SPEER, BLAZER, and Speer-made (dot) FEDERAL (dot) 45 Auto cases. We endlessly discuss if it matters but I don't recall if anybody found an advantage to using small primer 45 Auto. In my own comparison of BLAZER small primer against (dot) FEDERAL (dot) large primer...

    Berdan Primer Reloading Problem

I'm not new to reloading Berdan-primed cases. Previously, I've successfully reloaded the following Berdan primed cases: 1. 7.92x57: German 1935 Polte Czech 1950's clandestine (no headstamp) Turkish 1950 Ecuadorian 1955 Yugoslav 1954 (Igman) and 1955 (Prvi Partizan) Romanian 1973 and 2014...

    S&B Primer Pockets

    1. So now that S&B primers are available for reloading here, I decided to prove/disprove the stories I've heard about S&B primer pockets being tight and people having trouble seating other brands in them. Previously, I have chosen primers to match the brand of case thinking that they were...

    50-year old primers

Got over 13,000 Remington small and large pistol primers in a trade. Labels same as 1946-1960 Remington ammo boxes*, making the primers at least 50 years old. Most of the 100-count boxes and 1000-count sleeves are unopened. I located the oldest, grungiest, and already opened box of small pistol...

    9mm Golden Saber oal?

I note that previous threads give 1.235" as the overall length (oal) for Remington factory-loaded 45 Auto with 230-grain Golden Saber bullets. If somebody has some Remington factory-loaded 9mm Luger with 124-grain Golden Sabers can they please measure the oal for me. From Speer's Ask the Expert...

    Starline-made brass with Speer headstamp

Attached are photos of Starline-made brass with the Speer headstamp. Note the colon between the numerical designation and letter designation in the caliber. That indicates Starline-made. All cases also had the powder side of the flashhole deburred, a Starline tradition. I never associated a box...

More examples of Federal-made brass w/other companies' headstamps

Attached are photos of more Federal-made brass, this in 40 S&W and 45 Auto, made for Speer and Independence. Federal-made brass for CCI would also have the dot before the caliber. I've also seen Triton 40 S&W nickel-plated brass with a similar dot before the caliber.

Examples of Federal-made brass with other headstamps

Attached are photos of Federal-made brass in 380 Auto and 9mm Luger with Speer, CCI, and Independence headstamps. Most were associated with Speer, CCI, or Independence color scheme Federal-sized boxes containing Federal trays, with Federal lot numbers. Note the dot before the caliber. It...

Some Federal 380 Auto made by Speer/CCI

It shouldn't have surprised me. I've been trying to decypher the different makers of Federal/Speer/CCI/Independence ammo and components for years. But last week I found a box of 'Federal' 380 Auto ammunition actually made by Speer/CCI. The Federal American Eagle color scheme box of 380 Auto ammo...

    Speer/CCI manufacture dates

Ever wonder when your Speer/CCI product was manufactured? Since 1995, on center-fire ammo, rimfire ammo, bullets, and primers the manufacture date is encoded in the first four places of the lot number, which is printed on or impressed into the box or packaging. The format is L##L where L is a...
