So, what do you think about your M&P?

When I went through the CCW course, I had yet to purchase a carry weapon. I heard lots about the Glocks so I rented one to qualify with. I was fully prepared to buy the Glock 19 based on others opinions, until I fired one myself. I ended up buying the M&P 9. At the time, S&W was running a...

Cutting Over Powder Cards with the Triple P

I'm looking into purchasing a 2 part polyurethane mix and casting the backing disks in a mold. The polyurethane will have a higher durometer rating but should still be soft enough as to not damage or roll the edge on the wad cutters.

Cutting Over Powder Cards with the Triple P

Hey SG! All Triple P loaders have the provision for the rubber backing disk if you ordered a wad cutter or not. It's just a matter of ordering the wad cutter in the caliber you require. The knife edge of the wad cutters are made of oil hardened tool steel to assure a long lasting cutting...

    squirrel hunting with 1851 Navy?

I was hell bent on squeezing as much accuracy out of my stainless Old Army as I could, which eventually lead me to making the Triple P. I have another Ruger that I won't alter, here's a photo. I've considered buying a blued 5 1/2" version and putting the brass trigger guard on it to get a...

Squirrel Gun I modified my Old Army to accept a scope some 15 years ago. The Old Army can be a serious tack driver for close encounters.

I think I am done with archery

I hunt with a crossbow here in Ohio. The archery season here starts early and lasts all the way to the end of January with only a couple interruptions for guns season. I like it because it gives one a lot of opportunity to harvest with the season as long as it is. We're also allowed to hunt...

What are the ROA cylinder conversions

Another view. The principle difference between the two is the R & D has 6 firing pins and the entire unit rotates. The Kirst's back plate stays stationary and uses only 1 firing pin.

That's probably the best avenue to find one, by searching the gun shows for old stock. Let me know if you can get more, I'd want one for sure!

    Ruger Old Army bullets.

I went to the Lee website and searched in the Black Powder section. They still offer a 2 cavity round nose in their catalog, but no hollow point. http://www.leeprecision.com/cgi/catalog/browse.cgi?1224917192.246=/html/catalog/blackpow.html

    Ruger Old Army bullets.

I cast these for my Old Army From what I understand, these molds are hard to find. I found this one 12 years ago. I use my .36 cal. seating jag when loading to avoid damaging the nose of the bullet.

    Novice: Ruger OArmy, BlackPowder...????

conversion cylinders Yes, there are conversion cylinders available for the ROA. Kirst makes one and R&D makes another. Be aware that you can only use "cowboy" loads in these conversions. I have an R & D conversion cylinder for my stainless ROA. Here's a link the the Kirst website...
