Chopped an older H&R single shot to 20" and re-installed orig bead

I've got a soft spot for old shotguns, single shots and bolt actions especially. You did nice work. It looks like a factory job. I was thinking about doing just that to my barn gun, a 1930's J.Stevens 12 ga single. It fires fine but looks real ugly and has no collector value left anymore...

Does anyone NOT own a shotgun?

Living on a farm in a rural area, I have shotguns for different purposes. Besides, I just like shotguns. Got "a few." My most likely "home defense" scenario is after dark, the chickens start raising a ruckus and the horses sound nervous and The Wife "suggests" I go check things out. I go forth...

    "Ringing" a shotgun shell???

There is a you-tube video making the rounds of gun forums of this very thing. It's being touted by the unknowing as a great thing. Maybe in the old days with paper hulls it MIGHT work, but with todays plastic shells....................? I'm not a ballistician, but common sense tells me...

Where do you live? And why?

I was raised in South Florida (Palm Beach County), back when it was paradise - the 50's and 60's. Gradually it began to get crowded with people from other parts of the country ( and Caribbean). Lots of pavement, stores, condos blocking beach access, bales of dope washing up on the beach...

    Who carries a .44 Special?

Charter Arms Bulldog DAO, loaded with Winchester Silvertips in my front pocket. Sometimes I carry a Taurus 605 357 magnum in my pocket instead, sometimes it's both - Bulldog in pocket, Taurus in a nylon belt holster under an untucked shirt.

Thumbs down for Ft. Gordon public range. Big thumbs down.

My experience with Ft Gordon firing ranges was in 1968. The Army even provided each of us with our very own M-14 and plenty of ammo.:D Yessir, remember it well. D-3-1 for 8 weeks of Basic Combat Infantry Training. As far as exorbitant wages, if i remember correctly as a Pvt E-1 I was knocking...

    Mini 14

My 195 series cost me $400 used, in pristine condition, 5 years ago. It is adequate for my needs. Long ago and far away, Uncle Sam loaned me an M16A1 to use. This was to replace the M14 I previously had. Today, I have a Springfield M1A, but have absolutely no desire to spend my hard earned...

What grip and stance do you use?

I don't know what anyone would call it, but I face the target 90 degrees on, my firing arm(left) is straight, right hand cups the left with right elbow bent. Off side foot is forward, just like shooting a rifle. I have shot a handgun like this for 45+ years, and it works for me. I once took a...
