You are right, it is used, and was developed for nuke plants...I am kind of surprised that you knew that...a little concerned even lol...it really does perform well, and is probably about as good as it gets for barriers, and functions great in 1/9 barrels that are commonly used by most facilities...
our organization received about 75 Sig 226's a couple of years ago, and have found that their reliability improved greatly after the first 200 rounds. Out of the box we were having consistent problems, now, only when there is sand involved.
I am no help, but why not just get a NM, or a Florida? They are both good in NM and Texas. My non res florida was easy to get, and NM is not that painful either.
Hornaday has a 62 gr. TAP round that is designed for barrier penetration. It has been tested on auto glass, and works great. I have a ton of it, and use it regularly...

older grips that pre-date the DAK design are problematic of DAK pistols as the DAK Trigger Bar hangs up on them...for instance, older houge wrap around or CTC laser grips do not work on the DAK pistols...if you buy new CTC, or hogue grips, they should work just fine.
I figured this out 12 years ago when I was in USMC boot camp. Light oil=problems by the end of a heavy day of firing...heavy oil=no problems all day, and easier to clean...
