You Are Headed to Africa on Safari. Which Big Game Rifle Do You Buy?

http://www.garrettcartridges.com/penetration.html This is an interesting article where the penetration of the 45-70 is compared to the .458 magnums. The author finds the 45-70 out penetrates them due to the lower speed causing less explosive deceleration.

VIDEO: Finest Bolt Action Battle Rifle in History?

The Lee-Enfield is a modified Mauser actions. It had advantages but it is still a less reliable design than the original 1898 action. If it was so obviously superior to the other battle rifles of the area the other countries would have modified their own weapons as has been done throughout...

You Are Headed to Africa on Safari. Which Big Game Rifle Do You Buy?

Sounds good to me. The 9.3x62 can be used on the biggest of the big 5 in some areas. It is probably second to the .375 on the most African game taken.

Gun Culture: Older generation vs. younger generation

I was at AJI sales in apache junction, they have an awesome selection of military surplus rifles. I was holding a vz24 (which I own myself) and was explaining to my friend why mausers very reliable (CRF, ect.) one of the customers there muttered "Kids like that shouldn't be using rifles" :banghead:

    Controlled feed vs. push feed

Yes, because benchrest shooters will pay for accuracy before they pay for reliability. The myth of CRF rifles being less accurate started because most CRF rifle's are intended as rugged hunting rifles, therefor are less accurate than custom bench rest rifles which are generally push-feed.

    Rust on Knives

It sounds like its only developing a Minor Patina, which is common and harmless. It is only the reddish rust that harms blades and causes pitting. In fact a patina can even protect the blade from developing the bad kind of rust. But if you don't like these imperfections fine sand paper or steel...

Wonder if the short tang Mora knives

It's often said that a full grown man can pound a Mora into a tree and stand on it. I have never tried this, but I have batoned with mine more than one, and it's stood up easily. However, the sheaths are terrible, mine has unclipped from my belt several times and the knife as unintentionally...
