For years the only gun I owned was a Ruger Mark 2.
I felt comfortable using it as protection.
Putting a couple of rounds into an eye socket would allow me time to get away.
I still practice with it a lot.
I've had a Mark 2 for almost thirty years and I love it but it is a pain in the neck to clean.
When I clean it, I don't tear it down. I clean the barrel and spray the chamber down with solvent. I scrub it with q tips and lube it.
Both of my grandfathers were in WW2.
Both were in the Army.
My maternal gf was a truck driver in France.
My other gf was a tanker. He was on the docks in Oakland getting ready to ship to Japan for an invasion when the atomic bombs were dropped.
I thank all the above men for giving me an...
Good Job!
I bought a smartpond fish net at Lowes for twenty dollars.
I clamp a pair of vice grips to the metal table and then use electrical tape to tape the net to the vice grips. The net is telescoping so I can raise it or lower it.
I have a model 442 and carry it in a Desantis superfly pocket holster that I bought from Midway USA.
I recommend carrying five rounds.
I too can't see the sights very well and bought a set of Crimson Trace laser grips.
I think they are well worth the money.
I think the show is excellent.
It is very informative.
I bought the first two seasons of Personal Defense TV which is an excellent program.
Best Defense TV gave viewers some excellent tips.
I recommend mounting your press to a board about an inch and a half thick with lag bolts. Then use c-clamps to bolt the board to your kitchen table. When you are finished reloading, put the press in the closet.
I highly recommend a Ruger MK series. I have had a MKII for almost 25 years and have excellent luck with it. I still shoot about 1100 rounds of Federal ammunition (that I buy at Walmart) every month.
Every other weekend I shoot 550 rounds of .22 caliber ammo out of my Ruger MKII. Then I follow it up with 50 to 100 rounds of .45acp ammo through my P90.
