    Cobra Derringer

On a spur of the moment I bought a used American derringer, used in 45/410. To use it for SD I would have to determine whether an bad guy could possibly hurt me more that firing the weapon.

Need comparison of .45LC and .454 Casull

Used to work in a gun store, when I left the owner gave me a new BFR in 460. I tried to shoot 45 colt in it, but would not group. It is a tack driver with 460s. About a month before gun season I start shooting it once or twice a day. Any more & i'm afraid a flinch will develop. I did find a...

Why did you start carrying a gun?

I started to carry when I worked for a major manufacturing company & took over 3rd shift operations. Within 4 .months I had dismissed 3 employees and broke up a couple of drug rings within the company. One employee confided in another manager there had been threats on my life and he notified...

OK, Tell the Truth! Do You Carry a .32 Revolver for CCW ?

I used to work in a sporting goods store. I carried a Kel-tec P32 because it was easy to hide. Was cleaning it & a customer stated "You don't have a gun unless it is a 45". I asked if he had a 45 on him & he said "No, but I would rather have a pocket full of rocks than a 32". I asked if he...

    Sterling Pistols

I had a Sterling 22 many years ago. Crud would build up on the bolt face...I racked it one day and it emptied the mag, full auto with the safety on. The buildup was enough to slam the rim of the .22 hard enough to make it go bang. I carried it most of the time as a backup while hunting, guess...

    "+P" history

Got my first 44 mag in 1974 & the standard Remington load was a 240gr lead gas check which they advertised at 1470. I didn't have a chrono then (nor much else), but you can't find a load even close to that today.

    Marines order 1911's

This may have already been posted, if so please delete. Just read on FoxNews that the Marines have placed an order with Colt for 12000 1911's to the tune of $22.5M. Stated they were not happy with the accuracy nor the stopping power of the Beretta M9's. Glad to see the old war horse back as...

    Du Pont P-5066

I have aquired through a "box" trade, an un-opened 8 ounce can of Du Pont P-5066. I hate to waste anything & certainly hate to toss something like that out. Anyone have any load data for it, expecially 38 spl. or 38 s&w or even 32s&w long? Thanks in advance.

    My worst gun deal.

My worst deal ended up great. A fellow came into the store where I worked & sold me a Spanish copy of a Colt in 32-20 for $50.00. I called in the s/n & it wasn't stolen. The next day I was showing a friend & the main spring broke. A friend is a gunsmith & I traded him a sight to make me a...

Magnum Research .45 Colt? Feedback, experience?

Mine is in 460 S&W (long cylinder). It is super accurate with 460, not so much with 45 colt. I think the free bore for the much shorter cartridge kills the accuracy. Have not tried 454, no need to with 460.......

Ever find something wrong with a NIB firearm?

About 7 years ago I was working in a sporting goods store & ordered 5 1911's from a well known maker. Had to send 3 back for repairs before I could sell them. I don't remember all the defects, but never bought from that manufacturer again. I also ordered a lever action rifle from a...

    new to me 38/44

I let him keep the sock. It doesn't even show holster wear & only has a faint turn line. Standard square butt grips. Looks like someone had used the butt to drive tacks, or shot it off a steel post a few times. All the dings are in the metal. I have a policy, no gun goes into the house...

    new to me 38/44

I've been trying to buy this from an old fellow for about a year. Sorry I can't upload a picture, but I think it is a pre-war Heavy Duty sn 57XXX. It is a fixed sight N-frame in 38spl. I would give it 80%, has some scratches on the butt by sn, and a little discoloration in 3 cylinders but...

    Revolver torture test!

I was in a tree stand, wearing a Redhawk in a shoulder holster. Leaned over & it slipped out, hit the tree stand on the cylinder latch & did several flips spreading the 44mag cartridges over about 60 sq feet. Hit barrel first & stuck straight up in mud. I was about 18 feet up. I could only...

    Returning a handgun

I purchased a handgun thru the internet (individual, non FFL holder in another state). Received it thru an FFL, the seller has an inspection period in which it can be returned if not satisfied. If I elect to return it do I send it back to the seller or must it go thru an FFL on his end??

Carry Gun When Cutting The Grass ?

Yes. I always carry. Prior to my retirement, I broke up a drug ring and fired several folks and put the careers of a lot of folks in jeopardy. Had death treats galore, security met me at the company property, escorted me into the building and escorted me off the property (I was asigned 3rd...

22 Magnum in J-Frame...What are my options?

I bought a model 51 new, ordered it & waited 4 months for it. Wanted it to carry while hunting groundhogs. Kept it less than a month and bought a 38 spl. Don't think I have ever shot a revolver which hurt my ears more.....To me, it's report was sharper than a 357.

    Has anyone dropped their revolver?

Had a 5.5" Redhawk slide out of a nylon should holster when I leaned over, was about 18' up a tree stand deer hunting. The Redhawk hit the edge of the stand, of all places, on the cylinder latch. It made about 4 or 5 graceful turns slinging ammo in all directions. Fortunately the ground was...

    SP101 .22, anyone have one?

I've got a snubby in 22 (2.5"), well sorta. Bought it about 10-12 years ago and my grandson fell in love with it, so I still have it in my safe, but I gave it to him. He is 11 and shoots it most every weekend when he comes to visit. Swapped out the factory grips to Hogues right after buying it.
