I have 77 handguns and am seeking to thin the herd. There are many I won't part with, but I am 74 and feeling it. I don't get to the range as much and I don't want to leave my wife and kids a colossal PIA when I go to that gun club in the sky.
Simple for me. I enjoy shooting the 40 more than the 9. It is easier FOR ME to reload as well. I have so many 9's that I almost have to load OAL for each one! And I use the 40 bullets for the 10mm, one of my favorites. I won't speak to ballistics as that isn't my suit. Fun is. And I'll pick up...
I had cataract replacement and paid for the "upgraded" lenses. Unfortunately my pupils are larger than normal and this allowed light to get into the eye around the edge of the implants resulting in smearing and ghosting. I believe this is called positive disphotopsia. The surgeon recommended...
I fear, as do many of us, that the "grandfathered in" clauses will be erased and the next step is confiscation. There are a lot of people in gov't who feel that no one needs to own a firearm. (They are not weapons unless used as such.)
I have a 40DS and I had trouble with it. Light strikes. Had to send it back twice. I'll shoot 38spl out of it but not mags. Makes me nervous, it seems like a loose rattletrap to me. I don't hate it, but I am not fond of it either.
I know it has been already mentioned in this thread but let me add my $.02...
You need an electron microscope and a great deal of imagination to reload 5.7. And TIME. I've never seen another caliber (no I haven't seen them all) that requires so much detail. You must set back the shoulder...
When I was 22 I bought a 4" S&W 28-2 in 1972. I sold it. Many years later I got a 28-2 from 1976 so I redeemed myself somewhat. Other than that I sold an S&W 351PD .22mag but replaced it with an S&W 632 in 327 so I have something similar. Guess I don't have any Big Regrets. I ALMOST sold my...
OK but I didn't mention the 460 and 500 mags. Those are allowed indoors only on the 50 yard rifle bays at my local indoor facility. They can be particularly brutal, but my reloads are relatively mild.
Sometimes I feel bad shooting my DE50 indoors as I know it bothers some folks. But some get annoyed by my Coonan and 44 mags so I usually keep the session short with those calibers. I belong to an outdoor range but with the weather and health issues I have not been out there recently.
Guilty as charged. I have an engraved (new) S&W 44mag that I have never fired. Also a lightly used 29-2 and 14-3.....I DO readily admit that I often demonstrate having more $ than brains. I am also retired and live on the cheap other than the hobbies.
OP, you seriously gain my ultimate respect for taking on reloading of the .25acp. I know I couldn't do it. I have enough trouble with .380. I couldn't work with such small caliber!
Is it safe to shoot 40 S&W out of a 10mm ? Is there danger of breaking the extractor? I have a G20, 29, and 40 but never used anything but 10mm in them.
