The DPMS website is the correct chambering for those rifles. They can both handle both styles of ammo, but the 308 is a tighter chamber and will have extraction issues with certain foreign 7.62 ammo.

DPMS makes both chambers. The more "tactical" looking 308s are chambered in 7.62x51 and the hunting/competition rifles are chambered in .308 Winchester. The barrel stamp is the final word on caliber. You'll probably want ultra high, depending on your scope bell. You need room to clear the handguard and bring the scope to about the same level as the normal iron sights. Ultra High rings will do that for you without the need of a separate rail riser, especially on the A3 style upper of the 308...

The Classic has a heavy barrel contour and A2 upper receiver, the Lite has a light contour barrel and an A1 upper receiver. Aside from that they are identical.

The entire standard length assembly (with barrel nut) weighs less than half of a pound, .475 lbs to be exact. The carbine version weighs .300 lbs. So all in all you'd be losing about 2.8 ounces if I haven't screwed up the math.

As a side note, DPMS offers both Commercial and Mil-Spec tubes, so you could have either if you have a DPMS. Our base model rifles come with the commercial tube, except the Mark 12 which has a Mil-Spec and the Mil-Spec tube is an upgrade for others. The easiest way to tell the difference...

We have added a third shift (last week) and are now producing rifles 24/6 (closed Sundays). The backlog is now somewhere around 160,000 rifles (not counting stripped lowers). We are quoting lead times on all base model rifles (and all major rifle components) as 12 months, that can jump...

Actually we are currently 156,000+ rifles on back order and have a 12-24 month lead time on new rifle orders, depending on upgrades. We did start our third shift this week, so hopefully once everyone is up to speed, some of the wait times would start to drop a bit.

This would be the shoot for it. After checking some numbers, we have 90 people registered from 23 states so far and we still have some time till the shoot. This is going to be fun.

Actually, I think I'm taking that out of there. It had to do with how we were going to be scoring that stage. Some of the specific behind the scenes stuff has changed, so it's no longer necessary at this point. Thanks for pointing that out.
