What to do with the bystander?

Hmm, good point. You are correct that some people have had their eyes opened by 9-11 and choose not to stand idly by when the threat appears. All they have to do is reach out and grab. Puts the whole movement thing into perspective even more so doesn't it?

What to do with the bystander?

This very point actually came up in conversation last night with some LEO friends of mine. I pointed out that in Executive Protection circles the response to this threat was to yell out what the threat was. (i.e. Gun! Knife! or just Weapon!) and depending on your responsibility to the principal...

needed a gun because someone was fleeing?

ONCE AGAIN, THERE WAS NO CHASE! And the Troop didn't have anything to fear until he pulled his gun.

    open carry in S.C.

I read that portion to apply to people who don't have a permit. It is comparable to having it in a glove box, center console, or trunk.

needed a gun because someone was fleeing?

THERE WAS NO CHASE!!!! The marked unit never activated his beacons or siren. In the 3 min+ video, note at the beginning the gray colored vehicle to the left of bus. That is the unmarked/personal vehicle of the cop. One wheelie! singular, not plural.

Hammer firing pin vs. transfer bar

It's just that I could have sworn that there were but I've been searching here and google without success, so it is more than likely a tale from beyond.

Hammer firing pin vs. transfer bar

Haven't there been a few cases of transfer bar style firing pins being inertia fired?

Got pulled over; Officer took my sidearm.

I don't recall the particulars, but the gentleman, like many people in D.C. lived elsewhere and traveled often to the city. He had a valid permit from VA I believe. Who knows the thoughts the of the person who opened fire on the officer. [ETA Okay found the one of the posts over there, seems...

Got pulled over; Officer took my sidearm.

I don't know how many have been shot by licensees, but at least one officer in D.C. claimed (on officer.com forums) that he had one take some shots at him. If an officer feels he absolutely must disarm me for 'officer safety' by all means let's do that; so long as it is done safely and it is...

Why can't I hit the broad side of a barn!?!?

Dadgumit, ya beat me to it! Although I was gonna ask, "Have ya tried standing inside?" Good advice and reasoning throughout, humor is all I had left!

What to do with the bystander?

Well, seeing as how no one else brought it up...let's say your friend thinks you are the innocent bystander and attempts to shove you to safety while drawing. Gonna cause an issue fer sure! Move away, while drawing if necessary. Remember that distance isn't always your friend if you and your...

    One chambered w/CCW? POLL

I don't understand this reticence among gun owners. I have had my Glock for several years now and feel absolutely confident in its 'safety' features. I am not in the least concerned about it misfiring from being dropped, and carrying in a leather holster that covers the trigger I also don't...

Concealed Carry Accidents You Will Actually Admit!

Oh alright, I will finally share my story. (19 years ago) Had to go somewhere that carrying a firearm is disallowed. So I disassembled my Glock and locked up the slide and mags in the underseat compartment of my motorcycle and then stowed the receiver in my inside jacket pocket. As I pulled...

    Old joke

Okay, I'll bite at the let's dig up an old thread: Two rednecks are out hunting, and as they are walking along they come upon a huge hole in the ground. They approach it and are amazed by the size of it. The first hunter says, " Wow, that's some hole, I can't even see the bottom, I wonder how...

Have you ever had problems with your Glock?

26% huh? I wouldn't put that down as 'storytellers' thinning the mix, but rather a hyperactive honesty. Glock admirers appreciate the 'truthfullness' of the utilitarian nature of this ugly gun and have no need to hide the cons of owning and using this weapon. Having said that I will qualify my...

    Any truth to this Statement?

I have seen the phenomenon (tongue in cheek) on several firearms, all after heavy use. During RO duties at IDPA competitions, I have been lucky enough to see the firearm slide fail to go to battery. On striker fired pistols this has resulted in a light hit to the primer whereas on external...
