I have one 1300 thats been flawless, been my deer slug gun for a few years and has taken some abuse... The other 1300 is nothing but trouble, it feeds 2, 3, or even 4 shells all at the same time, haven't wanted to drop money into it to have it fixed. I just throw the bird barrel onto the slug gun.

Well keep in mind Ken not all rifles are the same, even if they're off the same production line. My 93 does well with everything, but likes the 20gr Hornady's at 100 yards. Thats a 93SS with the standard barrel.

I like my 93, its got the stainless barrel, and I put a Bushnell Sportsman 3-9x32 scope on it (cheapo)... Its a MOA gun as long as the wind isn't real strong.

5.7x28 = 17HMR in usefulness... Fun, fast, and accurate. But it's not my choice for a manstopper no matter what happens.

Perhaps old match rifles? I shot Anshutz rifles on my high school rifle team years back, heavy barrel, heavy stock, peep sights.

I'm not sure how exactly he fixed mine, otherwise I'd pass the word. He retired last year, so I don't even have a way to get a hold of him anymore. I would just cycle it a few times and see if indeed you can get the thing to fire without the chamber being closed. Use snap caps if you can find them.

Sounds like the Henry I had... Make sure the lever is completely closed (I had to take mine to a smith because it would fire without having the action completely closed), and hold it tightly. BTW... Mine was chambered in 22WMR.
