you are right to a point. the crimp on the bullet itself is enough to be a projectile i wouldnt want to get hit by, but the bullet going down the barrel does go much faster

i would def. opt for the .357. it just has much more use i think. you can hunt with it without any problems, and self defense has been proven over and over again. just my .02 cents you can use the .38 for killin paper, and the hot .357 loads for killin the rest of it.
