9 mm resistance in resizing die (RCBS carbide)

Mix my own, 1 part liquid lanolin, 8 parts 99% Isopropol alcohol. Warm both with hot water from the tap, mix, let cool. $12.00 for 36 oz. Works better than anything else I have used for large lots in the last 15 years.

.44 Rem mag... how do you load for rifle and pistol

ANY manufacturer published load will work in ANY pistol OR rifle. I have shot thousands of my cowboy action loads in .44 special (significantly below manufacturer published loads) through my 20 inch 44 mag Winchester and have NEVER had a a cartridge that had powder in it (had one without powder...

    Savage 745B receiver

Thanks Thanks Gents, It has some nice walnut on it and the internals look great also. I downloaded dis-assembly instructions and spent a couple of hours learning about how to maintain it and its history. Looking forward to shooting it.

    Savage 745B receiver

Picked up a Savage 745B (Browning A5 clone) in Seattle at a gun "buyback". Had a few cosmetic issues (scratches in the finish on the stock and receiver). Have the stock taken care of and have the rest of it disassembled, cleaned, and oiled up. The only thing left is the finish of the receiver...

To resort the brass or not?

Agree! Been using a set for 3 years, makes sorting simple.

    Extruded primer.

I would second this as a probable cause of the "extruded" primers. Saw it in my .38 when playing around with low power loads for cowboy action matches. Primers started dragging on the recoil shield after firing to the point it became hard to turn the cylinder. Wasn't enough "oomph" for the case...

Whats your favorite reloading gadget Bought or made

I think the Dillon polishing media separator (squirrel cage) would be mine. Turns a PIA into simplicity itself. You can see it here: http://www.dillonprecision.com/#/content/p/9/pid/23663/catid/8/CM_500_Case_Media_Separator

Exactly, Thanks for the correction. (correction made to first post)

    45-70 and IMR4198 questions

Some reloading manuals will have 3 different sections for the 45/70. One for the original Springfield Trapdoor type rifle, one for lever actions like your marlin, and one for bolt or single shot rifles like the ruger #1. The load recipes in each section are maximum for the indicated type of...

    Bench surface finish question?

I have a friend who makes granite countertops. Went to his shop one day and he had a truckload of Corian that he removed from a job he was working on. He sold it to me cheap and I hauled it home and used it as the top surface for the 1.5" thick reloading bench I had put together. Great stuff...

Scope mounting kit, should I buy

I have everything in the kit (bought separately over several years), and it all works well. I also recently bought this: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/189016/wheeler-engineering-professional-reticle-leveling-system which is the best, bar none, leveling system I have used in 30 years. The...

Can change factory 9mm FMJ with JHP bullets?

If you do decide to go ahead, remember to load the bullet to the appropriate overall cartridge length (it probably not be the same length as the FMJ round was). Seating it too deep, especially in such a small case, can cause pressures to spike quickly, turning a mild load into a proof load or...

    9mm keholing question

The 9mm round headspaces off of the case mouth and thus SHOULD NOT be "crimped" into the bullet surface. As others have stated, the bell should just be "ironed out" of the case once the bullet has been seated. SAAMI spec for the mouth of the case is .380, with the web being .391. Excessive...

    Ultrasonic cleaning solution

1/4 Simple green and 3/4 water. Works like a champ and is cheap! Gets off carbon, dirt, oils, greases, etc. Doesn't remove lead or copper but gets everything else off the gun parts I put in it.

    Help with AR

Had the exact same problem- and as stated by others, it was an issue I created, failure to fully size the brass. The last mm or so at the base would stick in the chamber and be a bear to remove, would not go forward, could not be removed with the charging handle. Turned in the sizing die a bit...

    3/4 inch scopes

Does anyone still make a decent 3/4 inch rifle scope? I have a mossberg no. 6 scope base and mount I'd like to use on my 46AT.

OAL change due to tumbling with light taper crimp

What if? What if, what if, what if? You can take the question to ridiculous lengths. In order to move the bullet in the case you need to overcome the inertia of the bullet/case mass, AND overcome the neck tension, AND overcome the crimp tension. Not going to happen in a home vibratory cleaner...

    Info on LEE PROGRESSIVE 1000

I started on a LEE Pro 1000 years ago. Fiddled with it for a year or so before I dumped it for a dillon 550 B. The press will load good cartridges if you take your time and are willing to fiddle with the press every 50 rounds or so. I absolutely disagree that a new reloader must start on a...

    New ruger 44 special

Sorry for your troubles "They are built like tanks - tanks with an Achilles heel, the 5 cent transfer bar. I have actually broken the transfer bars on 2 Rugers, both SA and DA. Do not dry fire them. They will also get loose and out of time if you use them hard." Sorry you have had this...
