Yugo M24/47 Mauser OR Mosin M91/30?

Well, the rifle is mainly going to be a range gun, so accuracy definitely is important to me. I am fairly certain that, in time, I'll probably end up getting both. At the moment, I am leaning towards the M24/47, and may looking into getting a Finn M39 as my first Mosin. Whatever I decide, I'll...

Yugo M24/47 Mauser OR Mosin M91/30?

Ok, so I am in the market for a new mil-surp, and am torn between a Yugo M24/47 or a Mosin M91/30. The ones I am specifically looking at are similarly priced. The M24/47's handguard is cracked (but according to the seller, has been glued together and does not affect functionality), whereas the...

    Advice Re: Shotgun for Girlfriend

Exactly! I think you may want to check out the Browning BPS Micro - 12ga pump, ~13" LOP, and 28" barrel. The only downside is that it's spendy at approx. $600, but it's a gorgeous gun.

    Advice Re: Shotgun for Girlfriend

Thanks everyone for the great advice. I'll discuss it further with her and see what she'd like. I'll update the thread if/when we make a decision.

    Advice Re: Shotgun for Girlfriend

Ok, so recently the girlfriend and I started shooting trap. We both like it a lot, and plan to continue going in the future. Up until now, she has been shooting either my 12ga 870 Wingmaster with 30" VR barrel, or my 20ga H&R Handi-Rifle. The 870 seems too long for her, the H&R is way too short...

    TC Encore

I think he was referring to the fact that the barrel is also the chamber, and since it is a single shot (break action), switching the barrel also switches the chamber, thereby allowing you to shoot whatever calibers TC offers barrel in.

    rimfire teardown: 10/22 vs Marlin?

I have owned a Ruger 10/22 and currently own a Marlin 795. I really hated the Ruger in its stock form, and I didn't want to dump a bunch of money into the gun so it would be to my liking. I see some guys basically buying all new parts, only keeping the original reciever and I can't help but...

    Minimum el-cheapo handloading?

I actually started reloading very recently with the Classic Lee Loader. I had read both negative and postiive things about it, but I thought, "hey, for $13, if I don't really like it I'm not out a whole lot", and I wanted to test the waters to see if I would enjoy reloading at all. So, I bought...

    S&W M-19 vs. M-14

Well, I am going to sell my Glock 17 to finance this new purchase, and the deal goes through next Tuesday. (On a side note, trading in black plastic for blued metal and wood makes things seem right with the world, and I'm only 23! ;) ) Anyways, I will check them each out again and pick out...

    Calling all Marlin 7000 owners...

I have a Marlin 795 (same gun, no heavy barrel though), and use a scope base by B-square. There are a few other bases that fit the stock rails, and they seem very solid. I am using a two-peice base and it seems to work great. The rings will not move at all. I think the problems people were...

    S&W M-19 vs. M-14

Yea, but I live in CA, and unless people who owned these S&W's before the "list" went into effect are willing to sell them via PPT or on consignment, you cannot buy one. You cannot have one shipped in from out of state (unless it is over 50yrs old and qualifies as a C&R), so they are pretty...

    S&W M-19 vs. M-14

Okay, so I posted a thread asking about the M&P and M-14 about a week ago, and got some varied responses. So, I go to a different gunshop today and see that they have a 6" 19-4 in fairly good condition. There is some blueing wear on the frame above the wood target grips, but nothing really...

    S&W K-38 ? + M&P/M-10 question

The one I am looking at also has a similar serial number to yours (K 14xxxx). Are these earlier ones worth more? I noticed on the consignment page that the seller had originally listed it for $300-325, but later changed it to $450-475. Are the increasing in value? Anyways, I really like the...

    S&W K-38 ? + M&P/M-10 question

Yea, no kidding about being in CA. I may just bite the bullet and pay the money for the K-38, as it's a really nice looking gun and I may or may not find another one if I pass this one up. I can always look for another M&P (or, if that one is still there too later on...) and pick that up. I hope...

    S&W K-38 ? + M&P/M-10 question

I would love a 4" K-frame .38spl, but being in CA, any blued Smiths are hard to come by. They are not approved for sale on the CA DOJ "list", so the only way to get them is to find them being sold by other people (PPT's or consignment), who have had them in the state before the "list" went into...

    S&W K-38 ? + M&P/M-10 question

Oh, I'm sure the M-10's and M&P's are great revolvers, but I was more interested in how much better the K-38's are. I really liked the K-38 I handled, but I don't know if it should command the $200 premium over the M&P. I also plan on shooting mainly 148gr WC's out of them. How do the fixed half...

    S&W K-38 ? + M&P/M-10 question

Ok so I am going to take up reloading, and am starting off with .38spl 148gr WC's and possibly 158gr SWC's. I already have a GP-100 6" that I can shoot them out of, but I want/need a .38spl only gun. While the GP-100 is accurate, tames what little recoil they have, and shoots them just fine, I...

    Reporting a dud

I had a similar problem in my Springfield mil-spec 1911 with WWB .45 value pack ammo. It was the newer kind that is "loose" as opposed to being in those styrofoam trays. My gun has been dead reliable for as long as I've had it, so it was kind of a shocker to me too. I loaded the round again, and...

    Race Gun for a CCW?????

Aren't race/competition guns set up in such a way that they sometimes compromise reliability (eg. everything is super tight), for accuracy? Isn't that why some people prefer a "looser" mil-spec 1911 to the hand fitted tricked out ones? As for price, I'm sure people are carrying expensive...
