Hey all,
I really have to ask this question...... is 2.5 MOA really considered mediocre accuracy? I do own a mini....one of the 580 series with the skinny barrel. I am sure my shoot groups are probably in the 3-4 MOA range, which is also about the size of the groups I get out of my Garand...
This whole mini14 accuracy debate is silly.... if 2-3 MOA (from a 580 series) is considered inaccurate....Man, I just don't know what to say. Even 4 MOA is "Minute of Felon" if not Minute of Head". What's the deal?? Why is this considered terrible accuracy? I don't ever hear any body...
Dude....go with the Garand...they are right in your price range and you can also get an adjustable gas plug to shoot commercial 30-06 while you are waiting for your shipment of Greek HXP ammo. Also...it's a Garand. Really nothing more to say.
I don't own an AR or an AK...although I have plenty of trigger time behind both after 22+ years in the military. The semi's that I do own are the 580 series Mini-14 and an M1 Garand from the CMP. I love my mini. It's one of the early 580 series with the skinny barrel. The only thing I have...
Yes the Tactical and G.I. are the same size. The GI is a bare bones 1911. The Tactical has a few features on it that are nice to have's....In my opinion the Tactical is the better value. I love my RIA Tactical...the ambi-safety I could do without but that is my own minor nitpic. The RIA...
Me personally, I think the 12 gauge is your best all round home defense weapon. When things go bump in the night, just the sound of racking a shell into the shotgun can be enough to make others rethink why they entered your home.
The mini-14 will be perfect for your needs. I have a 580 series with the thinner barrel that I bought almost exactly 1 year ago. I have not had a single malfunction. I am not sure how many rounds I have put through it but I would venture at leasr 1000 rounds. I have only used factory mags...
I have the RIA Tactical and I love it! Admittedly it is my first and only 1911 but I have put at least 800 rounds through it without a single malfunction! Did I mention the price?
I have a 580 series with the thin barrel. I added an accu-strut to it which cost $120. I want to say I paid just under $600 for the rifle. I love my mini! I have no problem hitting 8" targets out to 150 meters with open sights. I only added the accu-strut to ensure better accuracy after the...
