Well ---- I ended up with a CZ P-01 9mm. So far, I've had two range visits and about 600 rounds thru it. It is extremely accurate, although I am not. My instructor has validated the accuracy with his shooting it. I can do OK at 15 yds. with about 6 in. groups. My first goal is to do OK at 25...
I love my new CZ P-01 3.9 in barrel. I am a new shooter and 1st trip to the range I was able to show steady improvement. Fits my small-med. hand excellent.

Sorry----don't know how to get the picture to appear inside the post.
Just bought a couple cases of this:

A little high, but at least I'll have some.
My first handgun (CZ P-01) will be here Weds., and now I can't find any decent 9mm ammo. Checked (4) local Walmarts, all out. Looking for Winchester White Box 115gr 9mm. Ammoman.com and cheaperthandirt.com are also out.
Any suggestions?

Grampy
Thanks, Gents. Yes, my only concern will ge getting used to the two different DA/SA trigger pulls, but since this will be my very first handgun, that is what I will learn and practice on. The reputation/reliability/ergonomics of the gun was the overriding factor in my selection.
After much research on this forum and others, I ordered my first handgun this week----a CZ P-01 9mm. It will be shipped this coming Weds. to my local FFL.
Being a brand new shooter with only one trip to my buddy's gun club range, I have a very good teacher/instructor as he is a former LEO and...
This thread is helping me immensely so far as I am just getting into shooting and buying my first handguns.
So far I do not see any dislike for my first two choices------a .22lr to learn on, and then a 9mm for home defense:

Thanks for the hilarious comments on the Gun Show:)
There were a few tight-fitted jeans models there. Also, next to the gun show exhibits, there was a Cheerleading Competition----how wild is that combo?
There was a huge crowd at the show. I was able to handle some of the Buckmark models...
I'm going to the Harrisburg, PA Gun Show tomorrow with the buddy who introduced me to shooting. They'll have (1200) display tables there, so I'll have a chance to put my hands on lots of models for feel/fit.
Thanks again, Gents, for all the excellent suggestions. I am still undecided with rentals at the range the likely deciding factor. Revolvers are a consideration now, but still leaning slightly toward a semi-auto.
SM---Thank you so much for your detailed advice. It is very much appreciated, and although I was intent on a semi-auto, you have shed some new light on what I may do.

Like the looks/specs of that one.
Thanks CB900F----"And because of the single action operating system, is usually considered to be less prone to neophyte operating error."
First decision I made was to go with a semi-auto. on this, and I noticed most of the ones I looked at say they are SA.
Thanks, Ryan----so I gues the wise choice would be to NOT get the Bucmark Hunter that already has fiber optic sights, if I intend to get the TROGLO TFO sights?? I'd be paying twice for hi vision sights right???
