I have a fairly new Leupold VX2 3-9x33 Rimfire EFR scope on a CZ 452 22 WMR. I noticed that when I adjust the focus with the eyepiece the reticle will jump around a little, maybe 20% of the open area with the fine duplex wire. There's a little play in the eyepiece on the end of the scope. I...
22LR Ammo Shortage Update?
It's been over five years since the onset of the 22LR ammo shortage and manufacturers reporting that they are working 24/7 to fill orders.

Well, they've been working 24/7 since and the shortage has become...
I decided on a Maxus in Realtree Max-4. I can still feel the 3.5" loads but it's a huge improvement over the old Nova. Also, I found the Maxus trigger to be quite good despite reports to the contrary.
I don't think you want to shoot 22 shorts in your bolt action. They'll lead up your chamber making it difficult to shoot LRs. And the lead is a pain in the rear to get out.
Check your head space with a set of GO/ NOGO gauges. Or buy your barrel from a vendor that supplies a bolt with the proper head space. White Oak Armament, and others offer this as an option with their barrels.
Every type of ammo has questionable availability at this time. I don't see any of the cartridges or shotgun gauges listed below going away any time soon, as in our lifetimes.
Questionable availability:

338 Lapua Mag
300 Winchester Mag

Agree. A Marlin 60 is a very accurate rifle and a Ruger 10/22 is far from.
Reading the original post I would recommend a bolt action 22, a 4x scope, and 22 CB long ammo given the noise issue. CZ 452 bolt actions are great rifles; there's many types of 452s and they are all tack drivers...
I used a one piece BKL-260D7-MB ring mount to put a Leupold 4x scope on my Marlin 60. A one piece mount was recommended to me since it is less likely to "walk" on the receiver. The BKL mount goes for around $60 at pyramidair.com. You might find one for less if you shop around.
I didn't like...
I bought my 86 lb. 11 yr old a Browning X-bolt in 243 Win. I also purchased some Hornady Custom Lite ammo for it as well as normal ammo. He was fine with both the Lite and normal ammo.
I would recommend you go with a modern in-line muzzle loader. I bought my youngster a Thompson Center Impact for under $250. I wasn't expecting much from it and was quite pleasantly surprised. Affordable, easy to load and clean, and extremely accurate. For bullets I would recommend Barnes...
I'm trying to decide what to buy myself for Christmas. Are there any opinions one way or the other?
I would mostly use it with 3.5" turkey loads so I'm leaning towards the softer shooting Maxus despite it's reported heavy trigger. The Browning Maxus is about $350 cheaper than the Super...
