    .45 vs .50 cal muzzleloader

I have a magnabolt 150 from CVA and I do not like the loading with the small tool for the primer. I am wanting to go to a new gun that breaks down for loading, either a CVA Optima or a TC Encore but my only problem is whether to get .45 or .50? What are the advantages of the .50? So far from...

What large caliber rifle should i get?

kind of off topic but I have heard stories about a 2 bore shotgun, which equates to 2 guage in american terms. Read an article of a guy hunting buffalo in africa with one. My vote would be the .375 H&H..... If you wanna spend the dough, go with a .338 lapua......the shells for the lapua...

    scope shims

What I did wrong was I set the gun up for bore sighting and during the bore sighting I was looking at the point of impact of the bullet, then looking at the crosshairs. Well say I was 3-4" low, I would then try and lower the CROSSHAIRS instead of raising the point of impact. So on the scope I...

Backup sights on a hunting rifle?

I use to use a remington model 700 with irons on it and then put on a scope. When I put my first scope on I used see through rings.....shortly after that I scrapped that idea as I NEVER shoot open sights when I am hunting. I went to a tasco world class 3-9x50 and I had to remove the rear sight...

    Scope mounting help needed

Might wanna try clear finger nail polish on the screws......if you ever need to get them off heat loosens the polish. Thats how i did my 700 using the exact same rings/bases. Also I cant remember if it was my 700 or my marlin 1895 that I had to grind down the base screws because they were...

    scope shims

No, these "shims" are a plastic/rubber material with a sticky backing on them. They may not be shims at all but this is what I perceived them as. They do not go under the base either, instead they go inside of the scope ring and make contact with the scope tube itself. The more I think about...

    scope shims

Bore sighting my rifle it seemed I had to use shims to get it on target. I had an error on my oart and didnt realize that when you bore sight everything is backwards......I was adjusting to the point where I was trying to move the crosshairs onto the POI when in fact i needed to move the POI to...

took my 300 WSM to the range.....

and wow is all I have to say. This gun shoots like a dream. At 100 yards I was using a front rest only (i dont have sandbags yet) and I could see my heartbeat throbbing the scope up and down but I managed 2MOA out of it. I am rather impressed with the gun. A local store is trying to get rid...

what ak-47 should i get and where?

I bought one back in december that was an sar-1 which is chambered in 7.62x39. Ammo. is very cheap for the 7.62 but personally I wish I had went with 5.54x45. I seem to like the .223 round better than the 30 cal in the slower traveling bullets. Also the .223's are rather cheap ammo. as well...

    .300 WSM recoil

Just curious as how these are on terms of recoil say compared to the regular .300 magnums. Seems with the less powder they would fare pretty well as far as kick received. Brett

February 2004 Virtual Match for Fellow THR Members

Probably gonna have to leave that up to photo guy. His rules stated the bullet must break the line, not sure if touching the line would count as yours definately touches the line, but does the actual bullet break plane? I dunno, I would have probably scored it as a hit as well, but thats...
