did anyone ever make a fal in another caliber?

The original FAL was meant to be in the British .280 cal. Whoops, misread OP. I don't think so, but if you find it, I'm interested.

just curious,. how come the US military didn't use the .308 win?

Same reason why they have an M240 coax on the tank, instead of a M2 coax. It would make sense to have a single person in a squad carrying a 7.62 NATO light rifle, ala AR-10, 18 inch light barrel, with an ACOG.

What is primary reason for pistol grip on assault rifles?

The pistol grip is for ergos. No, not for firing from the hip, but to make it easier to hold while aiming. Also, it reduces length of pull.

How young is too young to shoot?

Basically, the two times when it's too late/too early: Age 15-21, or if they develop quicker, 15-18. This is when the part of the brain that uses logic to weigh actions against consequences is not catching up with the emotional part of the brain. If they show they can do so, go ahead. It just...

Robinson Arms Sues Remington, Bushmaster, RRA, and Magpul

Anyhow, talk will do nothing. Whether or not the lawsuit is frivolous is something for the court to decide. The XCR is a fine design, and in reality it is not the jam-o-matic that shoots out barrels that people make it to be. The AR-15 is not the jam-o-matic that has shoddy ejectors that...

Robinson Arms Sues Remington, Bushmaster, RRA, and Magpul

This law suit really centers around the Bolt Hold Open. If you notice, looking through the patent, examine the drawing of the bolt hold open...

why use an intermediate round as a civilian?

I'll take an XCR in 5.56 in self defense, but if you're going to shoot deer then use .308.

This is a Robinson XCR thread

I say that the XCR is better, mainly because it's design is much more durable.

    I've got a semi-auto .308 itch...

XCR-M, maybe. Supposedly should be out this year. I wouldn't be surprised if it got delayed to next year, don't get your hopes up. These are old photos, Just imagine them with DPMS/SR-25 mags. And minus the grip safety.

    Ar-10 v dsa fn/fal

I say that the M110 will jam in any adverse conditions. First of all, the suppressor that is usually attached to it already makes the gun more likely to jam then your standard M16A4 with ACOG. Throw in the fact that 7.62 NATO ends up with more powder residue in the chamber and you get something...

    PTR 91 vs. M1A

Well the PTR-91 to me isn't that great. It really isn't. It's a design that makes mounting optics worse then trying to do so on an M1A, it's iron sights are terrible, the charging handle is misplaced, the chamber flutes gum up, jamming the gun, and the recoil is heavier then it should be. The...

    Ar-10 v dsa fn/fal

Mind you right now the M110 is reported to be a jam-o-matic. Piston AR10s are more likely to snap their op-rods, mainly because it's such a small one. The AR-15 and AR-10 are both unreliable when you run them dry for long stretches of time. The FAL does better in this respect. All in all it...

    Ar-10 v dsa fn/fal

Out of the two, it depends on what you need. If you need this as a long range rifle that's value is determined by how small groups are, AR-10. If you're fine with something as accurate as an unbedded M14, the DSA SA58/StG58 both do the job admirably. If you want something modern, and you...

    Rifle Barrel Break-In

My view on breaking in barrels? When you shoot the gun, you're breaking it in. If the groups are opening up, clean it gently and push patches through maybe 3 times at most. Only clean the barrel when it's nicely fouled after a nice day of shooting. Then there is actual reason to clean it.

    ACOGs?

Just wondering, what is the "true" eye relief of the TA11? The listed 2.4 inches seems to be off, like the TA33 is. I'd like to see that the TA11 can be used on an AR-10 without giving me scope eye.

best semi auto rifle ever built?

The only reason why I don't like the M14 is that it's heavy. And if you have some hot loads the op-rod is going to feel like popping out of place. Both of which aren't real problems if you don't do much but shoot irons with it on the USGI stocks.

best semi auto rifle ever built?

Hate to break it to you, but if China is ever a big enough threat and intel is strong enough that troop planes seem to be flying over the Pacific in the millions, we're going to have a press conference while nukes are dropped on China. Then we'll end up having the AF intercept every single...

    M1A or AR?

Since you're plinking, you shouldn't waste money buying .308 ammo when you aren't going further then the 100 yard line most of the time. If the wind is good and you've got good ammo you can shoot as for as .308 anyhow.

Buying my first semi-automatic rifle, I ask your advice.

Ah. I don't really mind if they make it in America or in Russia. I just want the thing to be good and shoot straight.

    Fn fs2000

The FS2000 CAN have PMags in them. You have to remove something from that mag well that keeps dust from getting in. It also helps out to let the mags drop free. I'm pretty sure of this, but I don't have one, so I'm just going off of what I've heard. I don't think the MR556 and MR762 will be...
