    Light loads and accuracy

I worked up a load for my .308 AR. I tried every weight of bullet from 130 Grn. - 180 Grn. And I used Varget and H335 from lowest to highest powder load. The out come was it shoots best with 42.5 grains of Varget and 180 grain Hornady SST, using CCI primers and Winchester brass. It shoots 1 MOA...

    Barnes TTSX

Well I talked to Allen at Barnes, sent pictures and the lot number that he requested. He said the offset tips had nothing to do with accuracy, but he would like to send me a couple other bullets to try. Granted, it might not make alot of difference, but when you're paying over a buck apiece I...

I picked up 1000 CCI Small rifle at Cabela's

I just picked up 1000 small rifle primers for 69.99, hated to pay that, but I haven't seen a primer in 3 years. Was getting dangerously low!

    Pro Chrono DLX

I'm shooting a 20 in. barrel on a semi-auto on the 308 and a 22 in. on the 223 semi, so that's probably it. Didn't think it would be that far off (200+ FPS) guess I didn't take the semi-auto into consideration. Thanks for the feed back everyone.

    Pro Chrono DLX

I have a ProChrono DLX chronograph I have been using that I think is off. I was trying to load up some 223. I used 21 Grns of H-335 to get 2800 fps according to the Hornaday manual. The best I came up was 2586 fps. I also tried 308 with 44 Grns to get 2750 fps per Barnes info but only got 2510...

    Barnes TTSX

These pics might have something to do with the accuracy of these bullets. In the one are some (red tipped ones) Hornady, which the tips are aligned better with the bullet. Do I have a bad lot or is this normal? This is my first time dealing with Barnes.

    Barnes TTSX

I thought I would give Barnes TTSX a try. I heard the accuracy wasn't the best but you might get better penetration. After looking at the bullets I was surprised at how sloppy they were made. The tips didn't match up with the copper bullet at all and could understand why the accuracy suffers...

Beretta PX4 Owners, would like to here your experience!

I have a PX4 compact, I like it, but I switched to a Hellcat for EDC. The PX4 is a little wide for me to carry and the Hellcat RDP is more accurate. The PX4 is a reliable gun, never had a problem with it and it's comfortable to shoot, just prefer a narrower and lighter EDC.

    Barnes TTSX 168 or 180

My rifle shoots under 1" groups with the 180 grain bullets and 1.5 to 2 inch groups or more with 150 grains at 100 yards. I realize that even 2 inch is good enough for hunting, but I strive for better than 2". As far as Muddydogs comment, I realize rifles don't break brush as well as my 12...

    Barnes TTSX 168 or 180

I use a .308 for whitetail and load 180 Grain SST's. 180 works best out of my gun but I'm not happy with the penetration of the SST. Thinking about trying Barnes TTSX and heard you can drop down some weight using monolithic bullets. I know 180 for whitetail is overkill, but they shoot the best...

    Variations in Manuals

I have been reloading some 223 with a LEE manual for information. Lee states the starting grains for H335 at 23 for 55 grain jacketed bullets, I load 23.5 because my rifle likes it. I received a Hornady manual and checked what they recommend. They state max load of H335 for a 55grn. at 23.2. I'm...

    Leverevolution velocity

The data on the powder is for 30/30 160grn FTX Hornady bullets. My Winchester 94 is chambered for 30/30 with a standard 20" barrel.

    Leverevolution velocity

I bought some of Hodgdon Leverevolution to work up a load for my Winchester 94 and noticed on the Hornady site they call out a max velocity of 2300 fps with 37 grns, and on the container of powder it states 2389 fps with 35.5 grns. I'm somewhat of a beginner to reloading and don't like to go...

    DPMS 5 round mag

I have a DPMS 5 round mag that is the size of a 10 round and has stop indentions in them to only allow 5 rounds. I was wondering if you could grind the stops off so it could accept the full 10 rounds. I have seen that this issue has been brought up on other sites but no one has said whether this...

    Hornady variations?

I understand there will be some variance, I usually have around +/- .3, thought Hornady's was a little excessive. Just threw it out there. Thanks for your reply.

    Hornady variations?

I got 2 boxes of hornady 180 grn. SST 30 cal. bullets the other day and took about 10 out and weighed them like I always do. Kinda new to Hornady, I was using Sierra, but was out and had to get what I could get. The bullets varied from 179.6 - 181.4 grains. Is that the norm for them? I don't...

    308 penetration?

Well I have been hunting deer for 45 years and have been quite successful, I have always processed my own deer so I know what an exit wound IS and I could not find an exit hole. The chest cavity was mush leading me to believe the round fragmented. This is the only deer I took with these rounds...

    308 penetration?

I spent most of my hunting life taking whitetail's with a shotgun. A couple of years ago they allowed rifles in my area. I admit the shotgun works better in the cedar swamps I hunt here in Wisconsin, but last year I used my 308 while hunting in a corn stubbled field. It was loaded with 165 grain...
