    Any other liberals?

This begs the question: if "there are more important problems facing the US right now," they why is an AWB or other laws against "some guns" being pushed AT ALL? Which leads to other questions, such as "why are some firearms being banned as so-called "assault weapons" when they shoot the same...

The Next Ban: "Super Dangerous Class(es) of Weapons" - An Analysis Of The Crime Data

Well, one anticipated argument (based on the anti-gun-owners' past rantings about "disproportionate use against police") concerns the percentage of firearms out there that fit into the "assault weapon" category. Like the bogus "Officer Down" study put out by the VPC, I foresee the following...

DC to ban magazines and clips over 10 rounds

More info Here's a DC City Council member's take: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/19/AR2008091903015.html What is with doofuses and their obsession with the term "killing machines" in regard to common firearms? I will never get it.

    Any other liberals?

Hi: I'm a center-left type (Mark Warner/Bill Richardson kind of Democrat) who got over "over thinking" firearms. I probably support more gun control that 90% of THR, but I'm still with them on the important issues ("assault weapons" bans, magazine restrictions, fair-issue CCW, "30-30cal cop...

    It doesn't look promising for H.R. 6691.

ArmedandSafe has it right: Most anti-gun-owners I have, err, "discussed" the issue with in the DC area have uniformly (it's scary) raised the argument that "if all guns were banned, then the police could just arrest every person they saw with a gun. Problem solved."

"No Guns" in lease. What to do?

Advice re:Wheaton and Rockville DO NOT move to Wheaton. It is the 'hood of MoCO - I know because I have to commute from the Wheaton metro station every day. The part of "Rockville" that is east of Rt 355, south of Rt28 and north of the Beltway is just as bad. Same for the Langley Park border...

Any News on the Heller II cases?

MSJ can be ruled on at any time before the final court opinion is issued, even after the full blown trial is done. One case I know of had a two-year lapse before denying the motion.

Do people like this make you nervous??

Maybe he was "kidding" around. Or, it could be that no-one has shown him the four rules, etc. and drilled safety into his head. Either way, this could be a learning opportunity for him.

    Maryland Laws. Hunting Etc.

As an aside, MoCO does allow hunting with shotguns, but (1) only in the upcounty areas outside of a specifically defined "urban zone," and (2) with the permission/approval of the hunting area by the MoCO PD.

    Question re: Potential ban

Government seizure of contraband does not give rise to any colorable claim of "just compensation" under the 5th Amendment. The issue is seizure pursuant to police power over the property/owner, not seizure for the purpose of public use or benefit from the property. Those shopkeepers with...

    Maryland Laws. Hunting Etc.

It should be OK to transport into MD as long as it is unloaded and secured somewhere like the trunk. The big transport bugaboo in MD concerns handguns. "Regulated" long guns are generally OK as long as they are NOT loaded or have any ammo in the internal magazine. Some (most?) MD LE officers...

    Arrests-Guns & Meth-Denver

    An article I found said the only scope was on a .22 rifle most likely a 10-22. . . "750 yard shot" indeed . . . http://abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/Conventions/story?id=5657439&page=1

Seattle's Mayor Nickels Defends Gun Ban on City Property

This will fail. The Sequim case was about the city-owned Sequim convention center using its leasing contract to specify to all organizations leasing the center that it was to be a "gun free" zone per the contract. It was not about a local law applicable to all citizens. The WA Supreme Court...

How can I legally own a firearm in NYC? are there any legal alternatives?

hnk45: I noticed the application instructions did not mention the letters of reference . . .when did they come up in your case, and how was it framed to you (i.e., "we need just a bit more info on you")

Great headline: NYC gets no "special master" over Moates, but yet NYC still "stared him down." Priceless.

Highorder: I don't think you can. AR "types" are banned by name, and the NYC "assault weapons" ban has a "magazine+one-evil-feature" test.

How can I legally own a firearm in NYC? are there any legal alternatives?

$450 for a three-year pistol license!? $250 to register ONE shotgun?! Multiple notarized letters of reference just to APPLY for a permit!? Remember this BS the next time you hear Bloomberg or some other anti-RKBA tool talk about "reasonable restrictions." To keep it on point, I do know that...

Harrold, Tx School Officials Right On Change In Campus Gun Policy, Says Ccrkba

Brady Campaign legal beagles at it again (embarrassing their law schools) Brady Campaign already has a "legal memo" up that claims this school district is violating the state education regs. The gist of the Brady memo is that the regs say that "employed security personnel" need to be...

Got a job in NYC... CT/westchester county questions

Congrats - I hear it's a tough job market, so good on 'ya. I am no expert, but looked into CT's laws when considering a move, and was under the impression that you DO need a pistol permit to merely own a handgun in CT, issued by the local PD on a relatively shall-issue basis. The CT state...
