    anyone NOT flare/crimp on 9mm?

Thanks for the input! I can see how the softer bullets would need it for sure. I have a box of berrys plated for .38 special and definitely had to bell the case mouth to get things started and avoid shaving the bullet (plus roll crimp w/ lee fcd.

Need your opinion of best air rifle for pigeon control

Another vote for rws 34, watch for when the neighbors not home, then mow 'em down. On the subject of springer accuracy, they can be very accurate if you use the iron sights, not so much with a scope. There is a reason why most, if not all, the various springer makes and models have the rear...

    anyone NOT flare/crimp on 9mm?

Jmorris, thanks for the picture....great visual (and great pic). Having the bullet held fixed would definitely be easier, as that was the tricky part for me...holding the bullet square while bringing the ram up but it worked. Definitely easier than two more single stage press steps would be for...

    anyone NOT flare/crimp on 9mm?

Thanks for the replies. Readyedy, I haven't shot them yet, just loaded today. Rule 3, the .40 was my first reloading effort and was a failure. I didn't understand the head spacing on the case mouth, and although the crimp I put on them looked beautiful, they did not cycle well at all. That...

    anyone NOT flare/crimp on 9mm?

Let me explain in a little more detail: I am reloading my first 9mm (have loaded 40S&W, 38 special, 44Mag, and 45Long Colt) rounds, and my load is using mixed range brass, titegroup, and wolf primers. I have several lee presses (single stage) and I'm using the deluxe LEE dies. The cases...

    Vision changes with age!

dacavis, appreciate your input as well. Economically speaking for me I think that would be a prohibitive solution....glasses are expensive enough just for regular glasses, and then to have a special pair made up that will no doubt change in a 6-12 months that wouldn't be covered by insurance...

    Vision changes with age!

Thank you guys for your input. It was an interesting evening at the range experiencing both the jitters of handgun shooting for the first time in many many years and also getting used to the recoil of heavy .44 mag loads and then noticing the visual changes I've gone through since last time...

    Vision changes with age!

This is a question looking for advice from shooters who have experienced age related changes in vision and how it affects, or how you adapt to this as it applies to shooting. In particular, in regard to handgunning. I'll give you the exact scenario that led to my question. I've had myopia...

    Any concerns buying used dies?

....Like from a gunshow? I'm asking this from the total newb perspective. Is it possible to visually inspect them for detecting problems, or is it best to stay away from die purchases at gunshows altogether? Dave

    Beginner Scope Question

okay sounds like.... my 3x9 is a good starter to become skilled at 100 maybe to 150 yds. Any recommendation for brand and model in a reasonable price range (for me I'm thinking 150-300 dollar range) when I decide to upgrade in the magnifications your talking about? I will be shooting in NE...

    Beginner Scope Question

Hi Guys, Recently bought a NEF Handi-Rifle in .204 Ruger. I am an experienced (30 years) shotgunner but my only rifle experience is .22 LR (thousands of rounds as a youngster) with iron sights, and I've taken a few deer with a borrowed Rem 700 in .270. My question is in regard to scopes. I...

    .204 Ruger

you guys are way ahead of me...Just picked up my rifle from Bass Pro (it had to be shipped in, wasn't in stock) tonight! Picked up some Hornady factory loads in 32 and 40gr with vmax bullet as I don't have brass yet (or any .204 components, for that matter). Now I have to fit the scope and get...

    .204 Ruger

1858, Horsemany, and bunnielab... I appreciate all your comments. I don't have any rifle reloading components and will have to acquire all for loading the .204, but I do have lots of cleaning supplies for the 22 cal. In that sense, I probably will experience some extra purchases for the quirks...

    .204 Ruger

I'm very new to and just starting out in reloading, I've only loaded pistol so far in .44 Mag. I also wanted a varmint type rifle to reload for and shoot as the only rifle I own is a .22 LR. My question about the .204 was because I just bought a Handi-Rifle in this caliber at Bass Pro yesterday...

Newbie question about RCBS partner press?

geez.....so many choices. Bought the Hornady hand held primer after driving to two Sportman's Warehouses and finding one on the shelf. The RCBS was in stock in both stores but havn't seen hide nor hair of the primer strips required. Also, the Lee Autoprime would have to be an online purchase so...

Newbie question about RCBS partner press?

I didn't get a chance as planned to buy it yet, but going to (hopefully still on shelf). Walkalong, I'm with you in that I plan on priming off-press with a handheld like the Lee Autoprime, so I'm not looking for a press to speed up that part of the process. I like to batch up the steps where...

Help out a first timer, PLEASE!

Am totally new like you except I have done more reading. Have loaded only 20 rounds with a Lee handloader so far....I'm hooked, they are beauties. I second the reading of "The ABC's of reloading".....very good read that is not dry. Interesting with lots of different topics on history and...
