I've had my 527 HS Kevelar Varmint for a month now.
The Vamint comes with a 1:9 twist. Other .223 527's are 1:12.
I love mine. It gives sub MOA (.75 in) groups with several weights of match ammo (52, 60 and 68 gr.)
On Mosins and M39's manufacture date can be found on the underside of the tang. This date is usally left untouched, whareas the Russian crest and date on the upper part of the receiver (just rear of the barrel) is typically ground off on Finn reworks.
I have 1897 and 1904 M39's.. and a 1916...
I have had 2 Security Sixes, both 4 inchers. First one bought in '79, It was stolen and relpaced by a Heavy Barreled Target Model in '84.
They are strong and reliable shooters, but they came with heavy gritty triggers. I smoothed them up, per a gun mag article, by clipping off a few coils...
