Thought someone might like to see the finished result of my Pietta 1858 Remington "antiquing" project. I have had the gun for a couple of years and it took some courage to strip the nice factory blue. I'm happy with the results and look forward to shooting it more often this spring. Just in case...

In Pietta's instruction manual for the 1858 the min-max for FFFG is listed as 12-15 grains or 0.8-1 grams. Any other published data for the 1858 Rem I have seen calls for 20-30 grains with 35 grains as the max. Why the difference? :confused:

If you use Ox-yoke Wonder Seals, do you put them on top of the revolver charge and under the ball, or do you seat the ball on top of the powder and then put in a wonder seal? I have some seals that I haven't tried yet. The instructions on the container show powder, wonder wad, ball then a wonder...

Just got a Pietta 1858 Remington from Cabelas. I'm very impressed with the quality and anyone considering one of these should not hesitate! I am confused about cap size. I have a bunch of CCI #11 caps and they are WAY too big. I am considering getting Tresco nipples from the Possibles Shop but...
