    ? re: primer usage

Buying more primers is indeed the ideal - and if I could find any, I would do exactly that. However, I have found no one that has small pistol magnum primers in stock. Actually, I have found no one that has primers in stock; period. I'm sure that my location makes me pretty far down on the...

    Nosler Manual

I don't remember off hand which Nosler manuals we have, but my dad and I each have a copy, his a newer manual than mine. I noticed recently, while I was at his house talking about reloading, that at least some of the so-called "maximum" loads for various cartridges have been seriously...

    ? re: primer usage

So I have a problem for which a solution has been suggested which involves a practice about which I have been heretofore ignorant. I'm looking for some confirmation/guidance/contradiction/whatever... I am down to my last 100 small pistol magnum primers for use with my .357 Magnum. In trying...

    .357 under-rated these days?

I almost exclusively load 180 gr. Hornady XTPs for my 686+ Mtn Gun. I haven't had any trouble with them being too long for the cylinder. Are hardcast bullets that much longer? Federal has a 180gr. hardcast hunting load that is also not too long for the S&W.

    Good, traditional, starter muzzleloader

I need some help finding a good, starter muzzleloader. I've never shot a black powder rifle so; I don't want to get too crazy on costs until I figure out how much I'm going to like it. I would like to stick with a traditional, sidelock model. Any suggestions?

kit gun / backbacking pistol question

Ala Dan, My uncle has one of those 2" m34s as well. I know he doesn't use it and he has offered it to me for $250 in the past. I've been seriously thinking of liberating it from him. I think it would make a great companion for my 4" m34.

    The 686

For me, the ultimate 686+ will always be the Mtn Gun. I did have another 4" 686+ but, the Mtn Gun just handles, points, carries, and shoots SOOO much better! I do need to find a nice set of decorative grips for it...

    .22 LR refinishing?

Awhile back I acquired a S&W 34-1, 4" revolver for an unbeatable price (free). It's a great little gun. Smooth action, excellent trigger, wonderfully accurate, etc., etc. The only "problem" with it is that the previous owner was not as careful with its appearance as he could have been...

Best .357 ammo for THIS application?

Personally, I handload 180 gr. Hornady XTPs. I can get those legal for big game in Utah and Wyoming - though just barely. For factories, the Federals, Corbons, etc. are out of the question because Wyoming requires an expanding bullet. That pretty much means a JSP or Hollowpoint of some...

    686 Mountain Gun

I'm new here and I don't want to sound like I'm arguing but, I found this thread and since I own a 686+ Mtn Gun and my best friend owns a GP100, I thought I would throw in a few thoughts: 1. The Smith is the nicer gun; better fit, better finish, better trigger, and if it's any less stout than...
