    Ruger GP100 - Blazer Aluminum 357

Blazer 10mm I've used Blazer in my 10mm Glock 20SF with absolutely no problem-it's a 200 grain loading and not super hot for 10mm,but still a pretty potent round. I actually haven't had any issues with Blazer in wheelguns or semiautos over many years.

RUBBER GRIPS: Who likes, and who doesn't?

Depends I use rubber Pachmayrs on my S&W 22-4 1950 Army remake because the Thunder Ranch stocks were not comfortable at all. I also have rubber grips as issued to the CHP on my S&W 68-I like to keep it the way I got it since I also have some CHP paperwork that came with it giving the revolver...

Has this Obama/Pelosi ammo market turned you from a shooter to an ammo hoarder?

Commercial Reloaders I keep a large supply of ammo on hand because I shoot various calibers and whenever I see a good deal I buy what I can afford to. I'm not a tinfoil hat type but I am a realist-there are some people in DC and locally who would disarm citizens in a minute-there is also a...

    Waning interest in magnums

Small Magnum Revolvers Tiger-you're right about the small mags-just because they're safe with high pressure loads doesn't mean they are a good idea. Scandium and titanium alloys don't handle the recoil of magnum rounds.Period. I have a 27,a pre-28,a 28,and a Python.None are unpleasant with...

    Waning interest in magnums

Magnum Loads I don't like shooting subloads in Mags due to carbon rings forming. What I do is shoot 357 and 44 Mags that are commercially re-loaded way down from the max.Not exactly cowboy level, but not screamers either. In my GP100 I fire hot stuff-it's hardly noticeable. Every so often I...

Which .22 revolver would you recommend?

It's Unanimous Single Six Convertible-mine is stainless, but no matter-the Single Six will last for generations.Ruger got it right-no surorise there.

    Colt vs US Firearms

Either One Either Colt or USFA are good choices-I have a 45 USFA that I bought used at a good price-it has a real "glass rod"trigger and perfect fit and finish-it seems to be regulated at 30 feet for optimum qccuracy. Same story with my Colt 2ng Gen in 38 Special made in 1959-30 feet. The...

    Ruger SP101 22 Magnum

22 Mag Muzzle Blast You want 22 Mag muzzle blast?Get an AMT Automag II if you can find an original(Irwindale,CA factory)and it will turn heads at the range. Loudest thing imaginable-it comes from the unusual chamber design.

    2 different S&W N frames?

N Frame Grips I have a pre-28 Highway Patrolman with the the target grips and a 4"barrel;a 27(no dash) with the Magna grips,6.5" barrel;and a Model 28 6" barrel with Herrett grips which were available as an option back in the day. That 28 also has sights that aren't listed in the Standard S&W...

    10mm questions?

Glock 20SF I'd go with the Glock 20SF unless you have very large hands and then the 20 is fine. I have average hands and the SF version is comfortable-the recoil isn't any worse than a 45 ACP on the Glock platform-I haven't fired any other 10mm. The Glock 20 and the 20 SF have the added...

    Ruger Speed Six

Buy it now!! I carried one on duty as an LEO for about 10 years. It rocks-you can drop it,get it wet, bash a perp on the head(the blood washes right off)and it shoots competently at 25 yards.:)

What are the pros and cons of the Ruger GP-100

No Real Cons The Gp-100 has no downside except it's kinda big and heavy for CCW,but great for HD or a car gun. I own a 3" and my daughter has a 4"model. The GP100 will eat 125 JHP screamers like candy.110's also if you bother with those rounds. Very little recoil and I've not seen a Six...

    1917 s&w

Classic Remake Smith came out with a case colored version of the 1917 in its Classic series-I checked one out-a trigger from hell for starters:barf:.They call it the 22-4,which is totally weird, because they also have a 22-4 with a 4" barrel which is a remake of the Model of 1950(although it has...

    Nickel or Stainless Python?

Nickel By Necessity I have a nickel Python made in '78 because it was a great deal in beautiful shape when I bought it and I couldn't pass it up.I'd have preferred the Royal Blue, but didin't find one.I had once passed up a Python 3" in blue for $325:( many years ago because I just couldn't...

    Why no new K-frames?

K Frame Weakness I like K frames, but when firing 357's in them, one must keep in mind the smaller amount of steel in the forcing cone due to the flat bottomed design of that part. N frames never had that problem. K frames were never intended to be fired continuously using 357's. L...

Can S&W revolvers be as smooth as a Python?

Different Actions I have old N and K frame Smiths and a nice nickel Python from 1969/70. I have noticed it's not that easy to compare the smoothness of the actions because the Smith double action stacks at the beginning of the trigger squeeze and the Python stacks toward the end. It's really...

Factory "ruger only" 45 colt loads for blackhawk

Georgia Arms Georgia Arms makes a round called the "Deerstopper". I think it's 260gr going at 1200fps(going from memory here)and I have shot it in my Blackhawk. It will definitely get your attention:) It's cheaper than Buffalo Bore and comes in packs of 50 and 100.

    S&W Model 19 (or 66) vs. 27

The 27 I also have a Python made about 1970-4"nickel.I have a 27(no dash) made in 1959-it has a 6.5" barrel.Missing a little bluing from normal wear, but I wouldn't mess with it,because the bluing is so well done-still a deep mirrorlike finish. My 27 has the trigger guard screw and it has a...
