    Ideal height for reloading bench?

I think it depends on how tall you are and how long your arms are. I stand when I reload, and I want the lever at its lowest point to be at a point where I don't have to bend over or flex my knees to keep my hand on the ball. For me that turned out to be 43" for a LNL AP with a larger than...

    Rainier load map data? ? ? ? ? ?

Here is a link to some archived data on the Rainier site, but it is only for Accurate #2, #5 and #7. http://www.rainierballistics.com/old_pages/accuratearms3.htm Also, I believe Walkalong posted some Rainier data some time ago. Search his posts (a ton of them) and see if you can find it...

115 gr .380- All things being equal

From what I can find, Muzzle Energy (ft-lb) can be calculated with the following formula: The formula is: (Bullet Weight) X (Muzzle Velocity) Squared / 450,411 This gives an answer of 153.353 ft-lb for a 115 grain bullet at 775 fps.

Requesting help from a QuickLOAD user

    Graffs spp

Grafs has not had CCI SPP in stock for over a year now. I ordered some in April 2009 which I received in November 2009. I ordered some more in March 2010 and have not received them yet. The only CCI SPP Grafs has had in stock recently the ones in APS Strips and the magnum version.

Load 9mm Luger with 380 dies

Sorry, screwed up again. Just checked and Midway the Lee 9mm 3-die set in stock. Four die set, with FCD, is on backorder. However, FCD is in stock as a separate purchase. Bought separately they are only about $4 more than the 4-die set. If you are anywhere in Middle GA I have a 9mm FCD that...

    Powder Measure broke, need help!!

Mine has been that way since day one. I thought it was supposed to do that so you could remove it to clean and/or replace it. Guess I'm too dumb to know I had a defective one. So far I haven't spilled powder, but knowing it did that I take extra care when handling it.

SW Model 52 w/ plated HBWC

Today I tried the Berry's 148 HBWC (seated flush) over 3.0 grains of Bullseye and the 2 - M-52s cycled 100%, although only 15 round test. Also tried 3.5 grains W231 and that also cycled 100%, but only 15 rounds also. I also tried 3.7 grains and that really threw the brass out. I think 3.6...

SW Model 52 w/ plated HBWC

Loadedround, thanks for the input. The guns work fine with lead, I was just trying to load something a little less messier. I was thinking of trying 3.0, but had hesitation for fear of beating the gun to pieces. I guess I'll try it, "nothing ventured, nothing gained".

SW Model 52 w/ plated HBWC

I need you guys to check my thinking about a problem I'm having. I'm loading Berry's plated 148 HBWC over 2.9 grains of Bullseye powder (seated flush) and having difficulty getting 2 different SW Model 52s to cycle/function reliably. I'm getting a good number (30 to 40%) of failure to ejects...

My dang scales broke just setting there!

RC, metal eating termites got to the scale and the brass. You need to spray your stuff with insecticide before storing it in dark places.

Do mild loads result in higher POI?...

RC, you're right as usual. And shoot the test loads out of a Ransom Rest to take the human element out of the results as much as possible.

Do mild loads result in higher POI?...

Walkalong, admittedly the pressure differential between a light 40 S&W load and a max load is relatively small compared to the delta P between 38 Special and 357 magnum loads. However, I still can't get my head around barrel dwell time being unequivocally the reason for 5" higher POI. The...

Do mild loads result in higher POI?...

I'm not sure there is a blanket statement that can be made that applies in all cases. My experience indicates that with a Ruger 357/38 revolver that 357 magnum loads print higher than 38 Special loads. There have been previous discussions about this on THR. As an example here is one which...

A serious question posed in a not so serious way.

The Lee "Modern Reloading" book, 2nd Edition has some data in it for plated bullets and Accurate powders. It says the following for a 180 grain copper plated bullet: Acc #5 5.8 gr 917 FPS 6.5 gr 965 FPS 33,600 PSI Min OAL 1.125" Per the Lee data you are in the safe range, but close to max.
