Wanting something for squirrel control besides a 22 and need opinions.

You've gotten plenty of suggestions to use CCI .22 quiet rounds, or to try various pellet rifles. If it were me, I'd give the CCI's a try first, and if I found they were not consistently accurate enough in a lever action rifle for those 70 plus yard shots (ten acres should provide longer shots...

What's the most that you overpaid for ammo/components?

A friend used to buy several printers each Black Friday just for the ink, and give away the printers.

What's the most that you overpaid for ammo/components?

That sounds like the perfect job for a PCP rifle! Plus, I don't think there is any regulation of silencers on air rifles here. This fella in South Africa thinks squirrels, dussies (his term for marmots, I'd say), pigeons, geese, and even monkeys are great sport, and helpful to the local farmers...

What's the most that you overpaid for ammo/components?

So if the main goal here is to eliminate ground squirrels, or punch holes in paper, look into PCP's or black powder. Air is still pretty cheap, and black powder can be made for next to nothing. Stick to flinchlocks and you'll not even need #11 caps.

What's the most that you overpaid for ammo/components?

Sounds like the giveaway pricing of inkjet printers just so they can hook you with super profitable ink cartridges later on!

AR Builds -- What Parts Did You Choose and Why??

We can't all run away and hide. I'll be sticking around to help fight the a..holes! I have property in another state, but have too much to lose here. My family have been real Californians since the 1800's, and this lefty mess will soon pass. Crap, even the useful idiots who voted for all the...

AR Builds -- What Parts Did You Choose and Why??

This thread is aged but still relevant. My first AR was a M-16 my Seabee battalion was issued in 1967. Previous to that we had M-14's, which were retained and not really traded for the 16's. In the late 90's the useful idiots that invaded California (it was certainly free when I was growing...

avoiding ear damage with powerful rifles

My ears still work pretty good considering what they've been subjected to. Many years ago I crewed on the world's largest machine gun (of that era), and when twin barrels are pushing out 3" rounds, it really starts to hurt after just the first one. Most of the gun crew used cigarette filters...

Finally, a place to shoot airguns

A couple of months ago I jumped into the world of PCP's for the first time with the purchase of a low end Air Venturi Avenger in .25 caliber. It seems to be a popular entry level rifle thanks to its adjustable regulator. Of course I couldn't leave the mods alone, and proceeded to give it a new...

Show us a picture of your reloading bench

No more Swiss Miss in the house since the docs told me I was pre-diabetic. That is an old box with a couple of sides cut out to use as a dustpan! There is a cup of java off to the right.

Gerstner Tool boxes with gold plated hardware...wow! Wish I'd thought of that when I had access to a plating lab.

Show us a picture of your reloading bench

Don't bust a gut laughing too hard, but here is my "temporary" reloading bench! It is just what it looks like, a 3/4" piece of plywood sitting on a couple of heavy duty steel sawhorses. I recently bought a 6.5 PRC and of course couldn't find a single round to shoot, other than paying the ripoff...

    What's with Herter's?

True enough! I don't expect them to come fully back to life. It would be nice to see some fishing gear (fly tying supplies) and those fancy stock blanks come back.

    What's with Herter's?

Glad to see the ongoing interest in Herter's. I too remember seeing something about Herters coming back to life, and found this link: http://www.herters.com/ Anyone know anything about Ruhr-American, from Glenwood, MN? They put out a catalog that, if I remember correctly, was identical to...
