Cut Full Choke Barrel back to Modified Choke Diameter?

I'm not sure of the age of your H&R, but their web site has manuals http://www.hr1871.com/Support/manuals.asp and if shooting slugs out of a full choke was dangerous it would be in there. Now as for accuarcy i would say 4 MOA groups out of a smoth bore with slugs is IMHO very good. If you...

    ed red

Only one MAJOR problem with "Ed's Red"........ It doesn't smell like Hoppe's #9. I use it and like it. Even having to buy all the ingredients is still probably cheaper than a bottle of the fancy gimmicky stuff with supper secrete magical ingredients like "snake oil" and "pixie dust" and you...

    Win 94 owners...need a opinion on ammo

My 94 in 30-30 LOVES the 160 gr FTX LEVERevolution.... I tried a bunch of other brands and loads but it just loves those Hornady's, I was surprised by how well they shot in the old girl. Now for what your gun likes that's anyones guess, try verity and hopefully you will find one that stands out.

    no 10/22 safety

Put the safety back in… it was put there for a reason. I removed and reinstalled the safety on my 10/22 when I converted my $175 well worn rifle to a $175 rifle with a refinished trigger guard and receiver (polished and clear coated). But for general cleaning there is no need what so ever to...

    GPS ?

I have an original (at least 10 years old) Garmin eTrek Legend. I use it all the time for hunting in wood that i'm not completely familial with. I does everything I need and probably more. Look for one that suites your need and price. My Garmin has never let me down... but I always take a...

    Re-threading 6-48 to 8-40

Also a posibility is the oversized screws from Brownells. I have never used them but they look like they may do the trick. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=795/Product/Brownells__146x48_Scope_Base_Shop_Kit

    dura coat degreasing question

I would not worry about it... the 10/22 bolt stop and reciver cross pin holes will probably benifit form a little bit of paint in them to tighten them up. I would not worry about the threads, just don't dump a bunch of paint into the hole and it should not be a big deal. as other have said you...

    Shotgun Purchasing Question

Not stupid at all, asking is the only way to get your question answered. I agree with the posts above, follow the safe firearm handling rules and when not 110% sure, ask. Good luck in your purchase.

    H&R Shotgun SB1 reciever

All you could ever hope to know and then some... Graybeard Outdoors -- Look under NEF/H&R Talk http://www.go2gbo.com/forums/index.php H&R's barrel accessory page http://www.hr1871.com/Support/accessoryProgram.asp Yes you can "fit" other shotgun barrels to your reciver.

Would you take a 2 year old to a Gun show?

Been there, done that, got the stained T-shirt to prove it (grape sucker). I carried my 2 year old on my shoulders, worked well until we where near any type of taxidermied animal or decoy, then we had to stop and pet it (that got old fast). I would do it again and plan to, we both had a blast.

    Sand Bucket for ND's

That is the way I learned them… Not that it really matters. I have seen “The Rules” with 3, 4, 5 and sometimes more individual rules. The point is that they all need to be followed all the time. However many it gets broken down into is more an exercises in semantics.

    Sand Bucket for ND's

I look at the bucket of sand as an extra layer of safety. It complements 2 of the 4 rules (never hurts to repeat all 4 of them): 1. All guns are always loaded. 2. Never point the gun at anything you are not willing to kill / destroy. 3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your ready to...

    Overgunning for HD

If you are there to deal with the loss of your HD gun, isn’t that better than not being there because you decided that something cheaper should work. Think of it this way, what is the price you are willing to pay for the protection of you and your family? A Mossberg is a fairly inexpensive...

    My Home Was Burglarized

Sorry for your loss, in both property and more importantly the feeling of security in your own home. I have an awful feeling this may not be the end of your problems (I really hope I’m wrong). Please take the appropriate steps to re-secure your home. This will make it harder (and hopefully...

    Winchester 94 30-30, new $420 go/nogo?

It kind of looks like it has the cross-bolt safety, that should give you some idea of when it was made... the dates are eluding me at the moment.

    Illegal or unethical or neither?

Legal? = Yes, NY does not have any rules against it that I'm aware of regarding hunting out of a sturcture. Ethical? = I think so... it is legal and assumeing nothing other than the type of sturcture he is "hunting" from is considered. Is it the way I hunt? = No, but I don't have a problem...

    Price per pound of deer

Well if I count all the gear (including gun) tags, processing…., it is probably like $1000-$2000 for the first pound and only pennies for the rest. So just don’t tell the wife about the first pound and it will sound like a great deal.
