Man she's ugly! I bet it's a fun rifle to shoot though and bench guns rarely look sexy anyway IMO. Looks like you are having fun doing what you love, more power to you!
I like it. I'm not really big on AR rifles but if that's a decent rifle it's actually pretty cool. Price is up there but it is a good sight and great case plus comes with a field repair kit. MRE should get you by until you find a fishing hole or some tasty tree rats ;)
I put a Skinner Express aperture on my Marlin 336 30-30 and that's the way it will stay until I'm cold and dead.
I'm using optics on most of my other rifles.
I have a new CZ-550 Safari Magnum on the way in 375 H&H with that nice euro hog back and I'm seriously doubting that one will get scoped...
+1 for Turner.
I would imagine the 50" would be just fine. I used the Uncle Mikes 1.25" quick disconnects for moving between my CZ-452 and my Marlin.
Good luck and hope you enjoy it!
My sling just came in from Turner, it's the NM Hathcock in 50". Currently on my 336...
On Target was poorly ventilated and had shabby air locks when we went back in early January.
Hope they get that sorted out. Seems like a nice place.
I'm dying for Metro Shooting Supply to get their act together with their new range on the Rock Road since it's on my way home. The thing...
I figured as much and I do apologize; here in the CONUS, you just drive and it's easy to forget that Hawaii doesn't work like that :) I hope you are able to hook up with the Appleseed group there.
Again, only my opinion, ditch the features and buy good glass.
Good luck, and have a lot of fun...
Here is an appleseed group in Hawaii: http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?board=131.0
Do yourself a favor and go. You will not regret it.
One point about the optics. Don't worry about the features so much as the quality of the glass. Get a fixed 4x40mm scope and start with that or a...
Yep. No matter what rifle you choose, if you are going for accuracy at or past 100 meters, stick to subsonic ammunition. That's my personal experience anyway. You have plenty of choices and your rifle will be the ultimate judge on that. Stick to stuff that gives you 1,000 FPS or greater...
Either rifle is good IMO. My CZ-452 works well at 100 but I've yet to shoot further. I need to do that.
For 100 meters, I have found the best groups with ammunition that does not exceed the sound barrier. My rifle likes
CCI Standard Velocity (my main plinking ammo)
Wolf Match Extra
RWS...
The 452 Lux is 24.8" barrel (love mine love it love it love it)
452 Ultra Lux is 28.6" barrel (I want one badly also so I can put a peep on it for good iron sight fun)
Not trying to be a jerk, just sayin'
I have a Leupold VX-II on my '06 and it is fabulous. However, I think this is the best bit of advice posted yet:
Just because your buddy said it won't doesn't make it so. Take that rig out and put 40-100 rounds through her and see for yourself if it holds zero.
