Getting started, what equipment do I need?

Thank you for all the responses. I will be sure to get a manual, and i'll look into what powders are available locally. It seems Lee also recommends getting "a Lee Case Length Gauge for trimming cases". Should I get one of these, and why exactly would I need to "trim" cases? Thanks again

Getting started, what equipment do I need?

Since ammo shortages are probably the new normal, I've decided to start loading my own. I will primarily be loading .38 special, and to a lesser extant, .32 S&W short/long. I have ordered the Lee Challenger Breech Lock Single Stage Press Kit. The kit includes the following: Lee Breech Lock...

    Time to buy a Beretta

i just recently bought a Beretta bobcat .25 and a Neos .22lr. Happy to see my money went to a company who isn't afraid to stand up for us.

Lets talk cheap single shots that do everything...

Have you checked out the Topper Deluxe model? It's the regular 12 gauge Topper except with a recoil pad and screw in choke. Not sure of price but i can't imagine it being a whole lot more than the basic Topper.

AWB looks dead...what about hi cap mag ban?

Exactly. And then it will be 5 rounds the next time after that. Give these people an inch and they take a mile. They are never satisfied so what's the point of making more concessions?

Anyone have one of these "Comanche" pistols?

http://www.comanchepistols.com/ They are sort of an odd duck. Break action single shot with a 10 inch barrel, mounted on an old single action-style frame. Chambered in 410/.45lc, they also have .22 magnum versions floating around. Made in Argentina and imported by Eagle imports, the same...

    Just for fun... single shots?

I have had about as much fun as the law will allow with a .22lr H&R Sportster with just the iron sights. Something about a single shot that makes you take your time and enjoy yourself.

We are WINNING the battle against AWB (victory party will be inside!)

I agree with the OP. if someone asked me 6 weeks ago, i would have said that we were screwed. But we are in a MUCH stronger position today. The AWB has become a pariah for the senate Democrats, with almost no hope of success. And there seems to be waning enthusiasm for the other proposals...

Rambo Sly Stallone is for AWB

I blame Stallone's movies for Feinstein's pistol grip "spray from the hip" nonsense. LOL

New Jersey spends $324,000 to promote Citizen Disarmament

Don't be so quick to judge Christie. Think about the fact that he is governor of THE most anti-gun state in the country (yes I spent many years living in NJ). Strict, draconian gun laws are a way of life in the state. Staunch supporters of the 2A don't exist in NJ politics, with rare...

    Tactical .410 firearms

Out of a full size shotgun, 410 slug or buckshot is nothing to sneeze at for defense. The slug has muzzle energy around .357 mag levels. The winchester buckshot is either 3 or 5 pellets of 000 buck at 1300 or 1100 fps, respectively. It's no 12 gauge but i certainly wouldn't feel undergunned...

Those marching for control, bearing names of "victims"..

Agree there should be a pro-gun march in Washington one day. Imagine the turnout we would have. It would be too big for the media to ignore.

What should I do with old .22 ammo?

That's way too cool to shoot! I'd sell it to a collector, or keep it for a conversation piece.

    Feinstein's bill sent to commitee

Harry Reid isn't dumb, he would like to avoid having this bill reaching the senate floor if there is almost no chance of it passing the house later on. Supporting the bill could be disasterous for Democratic senators in pro-gun states. They don't want to lose control of the senate in 2014...

Gun Owners - Hurting our own cause, giving the Anti's fuel

I remember the last time i went to Cabelas to sell a gun, they check every gun at the door to ensure it isn't loaded. I asked him "has anyone actually ever brought in a loaded gun?" He looked at me and said, "you'd be surprised." I agree these idiots are making us all look like a bunch of...

Why are shotguns the "Sacred Cow" of gun restrictions?

Another plus is that shotgun ammo seems to be not as affected by panic buying, at least in my experience. I can't get any rimfire or centerfire ammo right now but can still find shells pretty easily.

    Jan 19 Gun Appreciation Day

Saw the "comrade cuomo" sign on a news report about the Albany rally. Made for a good laugh. Glad you guys had a great turnout.

Airguns to get us through the shortages?

Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking of starting with the Benjamin 397 rifle. Is this a good starter air rifle?

Airguns to get us through the shortages?

Was thinking of getting an air rifle to weather the current shortages. Can only imagine how long this panic buying will go on for. I cannot find .22lr on the shelves anywhere. Air rifle would be a low cost way to get your plinking/target shooting fix. And some states allow air rifles for...
