    Any business owners here?

It's good to see that you have the drive to go do this. You're planning on going back to school, and that is a very good move. I think you should do that first. While you're there, you can be planning, researching, and getting some clever thoughts developed. It's all about the 'back of the...

    online buying disappointment -ammo

"That's what I like best about midway, they don't charge until your back orders ship, and the customer service is excellent." A few weeks ago I ordered Varget from MidwayUSA. I was notified that they didn't have it several days later, AFTER they had sent me a message indicating that it had...

    Sightron

I have a Sightron SII on my bolt gun, and I'm very happy with it. I'd like to put in a good word for their service folks, too. I called a few years back with some questions, and they took the time to answer them thoroughly. That's a big plus in my book. Bob

    Do I Need a .243 Win. Bolt Gun ?

If you want a really accurate, somewhat handy bolt gun, allow me to suggest the Savage model 10. You could get it in .243, which is a fine choice. With an investment of about $30 in tools and the price of a new barrel, you could put on a .243, .260, .284 (7mm08), or .308 barrel in any contour...

Why own guns, you may ask...?

"* Fun / Hobby - "Plinking" (shooting objects or targets for fun, not for accuracy)" Please represent those who shoot targets for fun, AND for accuracy! Bob

CNN POLL: Gun Control, we're losing bad.

CNN wins I wonder what all CNN has to gain by having several computers interacting their site. I can imagine that advertisers pay in proportion to website activity. Also, I bet their home page comes up more readily in a search engine. A poll of this nature is a farce, but they (CNN) win...

    The Workin' Man's Rifle.

I agree with the Savage recommendation. It's a 15 minute job to change the barrel. Mine's in 7mm08 with a fast twist to stabilize 162 grain amaxes. If I run out of my them, and can't get more, it's a breeze to put on my old 308 barrel. Also, I don't mind duracoating it, getting it muddy...

    Narrowing down the Grab-n-Go Bag

Wow!!! You must be tough! I'd be lucky to make it to the end of my driveway with that on my back. Hatchets are heavy, and laying a knife across the grain of a section of firewood, then tapping the knife with another piece of wood, will split the wood nicely. For me, it's also safer :^)...

Holy cow, a VERY close call!

Interesting debate In any 'sport,' our society values a level playing field. If this is sport hunting, should we not value equally the outcomes of the lion winning or the hunter winning? On the other hand, our society also values human life. Geez, I guess we're at a crossroads. I only...

    It Occurs to Me...

"There is or would be no real shortage now or in the near future." Really? If anyone can show me where to get an 8# batch of Varget powder I'd be delighted. Bob

is any one at THR an Eagle Scout

I got mine in '92. I don't think about it much now, but reading through this thread reminded me of how much I got from the experience. The Wilderness Survival and First Aid stuff was the best, I thought. We did a 50 miler each summer. It would alternate between hiking and canoeing...
